Wonderful town with winding streets with no traffic. The town is friendly with shops and restaurants and outstanding view of the little valley around the hill. The is a great spot not over run with crowds.

A nice town with lots of restaurants and entertainment up in the old town and the main piazza. From simple pizza restaurants to a true Michelin star In the alleys of the upper old town you can find a number of lounge bars where in the evening you can relax and enjoy a drink. In the summer weekends music on the main piazza and when we were there one of the bars had life music. The old town is a nice area to discover the small alleys, enjoy the view of the sea and visit the cathedral. In the country side around Ostuni there are a number of masseria’s where you can enjoy a country style diner. A nice place to use as a base to discover Puglia.

We stayed pretty close by at Martina Franca & visited this really lovely, charming old town for the day. It’s quiet, laid back & it has as a really nice vibe about the place, it’s not over run by tourists. We wandered about the old town taking photos of the beautiful old alleys & buildings. A number is very nice restaurants/cafes/bars & rather upmarket little shops selling locally produced goods. If you are in the area then Cisternino is most definitely worth a visit.

Centro Storico

Reviewed By RhinoLondon_England - Ottery St. Mary, United Kingdom

The chief draw is many trulli houses that are spread over a considerable area. The largest is to the southerly side of the principal road, Largo Martellotta, and provides the main tourist attraction with many souvenir shops and the like. The area to the north of Largo Martellotta seems to have rather more trulli houses in general occupation- and rather less tourists. Well worth a visit.

Piazza della Liberta

Reviewed By TJohnson449 - Santa Barbara, United States

This piazza has a special place in my heart because I lived near it for two years in the 1970s! I returned to visit in 2015 after having moved back to America 41 years earlier! Since the 2015 visit I have returned 3 more times because it is such a special town. These days it is a tourist destination, but Ostuni and the Piazza maintain their unique qualities and a much slower pace than the large cities and towns. I love relaxing in Piazza della Liberta where there are many coffee bars and restaurants there and near by. The obelisk with San Lorenzo D'Orosco standing at the very top, is still there, just like back in 1972 when I first saw him! And I expect he has been there for centuries before then. Right next to this piazza you find the entrance of the street that provides an easy walk uphill to Centro Storico, the most ancient part of the area. From there it is a truly majestic view of the Adriatic out beyond the olive orchards. Enjoy!
