Dutch era in Ceylon in the 17th century was marked by relative peace and increased trade, but that doesn't mean they were healthy. The church is a veritable fossil trove of past. Almost all Burgher families in Sri Lanka have at least one grave or crypt at this place; it's the Godric's Hollow for Burghers in Sri Lanka. Plus, the church itself was said to be haunted some time in the past, and the surrounding area is home to a lot of superstitious tales. If you're lucky to encounter an old Tuk Tuk driver, be sure to ask him.

Another impressive building where we had to be satisfied with a couple of drive pasts. Our guide advised that it was a gift from the People's Republic of China as a memorial to former Prime Minister Solomon West Ridgeway Dias Bandaranaike. Completed in 1973, the complex received a further addition in 1998 with the construction of an Exhibition Centre; this was another gift from the PRC to honour Sirimavo Bandaranaike, the world's first non-hereditary female head who served as Prime Minister on three occasions, 1960–1965, 1970–1977 and 1994–2000. She was the wife of Solomon. Wonderful beneficence.
Colombo, our capital, is a vibrant and friendly multi-cultural city, combining colonial architecture with diverse local influences. You will enjoy sightseeing and shopping in our local markets. Foodies can try our Sunday food walk and visit a local home to cook a typical Sri Lankan meal.
