Myself and my wife visited the the place and we were so pleased with the owners, their care for the place (and region) and for this piece of aviation and literature history that seems to be fading each day. We had so great discussions about the writer, aspects of our local history and so much more that time just flew pleasantly and made us want to come back again. It’s really worth it to visit and discover that part of our history and, especially, to share time with such wonderful hosts.

One of the best places to have a morning brunch with a "wow" view when in Rio de Janeiro. Other places I can think of is Confeitaria Colombo in Copacabana, Hotel Fasano and Copacabana Palace, to name just a few. What makes this place so unique is its really old architecture with Tijuca forrest, Corcovado mountain and Cristo Redento as a backdrop. Food (breakfast options) is exquisite and you definitely feel like you're rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous. Speaking of which, the place has been made famous by Pharrell Williams and Snoop Dogg as its where they recorded their famous no1 hit, Beautiful.

The tours are conducted by guards/soldiers and ours had interesting stories to share about the history of the fort. Can be challenging to understand if you don't speak Portugese. Beautiful views of Rio and the drive there is fun with plenty to see although the roads are narrow in places.

We loved Paraty - we took photos galore and enjoyed exploring the miriad of different shops, bars and restaurants. The harbour and riverside with all their colourful boats were fascinating. The protected cobbles makes this a no car zone however the uneven cobbles are quite tricky to walk on. The high tide does come up over some of the streets which means you have to make detours. We felt completely safe here.
