Coronavirus 2019-nCoV In connection with the current situation, Loket Castle is closed from 18 December 2020 until further notice to the public. The Loket castle, built of stone, is more than 800 year old settlement, positioned on a granite rock that is runaround by the river of Ohre. It was most probably founded as a frontier fortress. The castle served to kings, Lords of Schlick and Lords of Plauen, Loket´s townsmen and it was used as prison in 19th and 20th century. Shortly after 1989, it was open for public. The tour leads through expositions of porcelain, collections of former town museum, museum of arms to the premises of former prison where an impressive and authentic demonstration of torture can be seen.
When you think this castle was in a very poor state in the early 50s, it is a kind of miracle to be able to visit a very nice, well organized and attractive renovated history inheritage (thank you EU funds). I recommend taking the 45-60 minutes tour. Thisus place went through so many hands it has a rich and various history. In particular, the torture rooms are worth the visit, just make sure you brief your kids before... Our tour guide was great, engaged and involving visitors. We enjoyed it ????

It is a beautiful wooden structure from the 19th century. Inside, there are some of the famous mineral springes of Karlovy Vary. If you have a cup, you can drink the mineral water from the springs. Cups are sold around everywhere. The access is for free all the time.

The monastery was founded in 1193. Even today there lives a community of monks of Premonstratensian order. Significant is the Romanesque-Gothic Church of the Annunciation and the library, which is the second largest monastery library in Bohemia with many rare prints. Residential wing of the monastery is the work of Christoph Dientzenhofer from the years 1690-1725. A library with a church and a residential wing are open to visitors within two guided tours. English Park is freely accessible throu whole year. In summer Watermill with interactive models - playground for children is open for free.
