Welcome to a capital city whose story goes back at least 3000 years. In Beijing, you'll find a wealth of history, both ancient (the Hall of Preserving Harmony, Summer Palace, Forbidden City) and more recent (Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, Tiananmen Square). For the best market experience, choose the Dirt Market over the touristy Silk Market. A visit to the Great Wall, the longest manmade structure in the world, is absolutely essential.

my name is John yellowcar (Zhang Yong Xin) and I'm from Beijing. I'm a local and I know Beijing and all spots around very well. I drove a taxi for nine years. My car is a new HONDA Odyssey with 7 seats (please look to the picture below). I'm a non-smoker and so my car is very clean. I use my car to bring my customers to all the nice spots and sightseeing in and around Beijing. If you like to use my car and me as the driver for a trip, you can call me or write me a message
Great communication before the trip and coordinating. We had a 15 hour layover in Beijing and were traveling with our 5 kids ranging in age from 2 years old to 15. The day we were there was the first snowfall for Beijing. But our brave and skilled driver still took use to the Great Wall of China. It was amazing. We got to sled down the the Wall. Despite the conditions, he got us there safely and even recommended a great restaurant while we were at the wall. He then returned us safely back to the airport with plenty of time. The van was clean and comfortable. We would use this company again. And we traveled in November of 2016 and I'd been meaning to write this review for awhile.

My daughter and I just returned from a great tour experience in China. One of the many highlights was our visit to one of the many sections of the Great Wall - Juyongguan Pass. This section had some steep climbs through varying step heights and provided some great views of the zig zags of the wall through the mountains. The weather was great, no rain, sun came up and temperature was in the mid 60s. Great time of year for this. This is an amazing feat of engineering and manpower. We took this tour with Intertrips when we purchased the Splendid China 10 Day guided tour through Groupon for less than $00 pp with flights included.

Built in 1420 with a total area of 270 acres, this is the largest building for religious worship in China, which was originally used by the Ming and Qing emperors to pay homage to Heaven and to pray for a year of rich harvest.
A fascinating place to visit and marvel at the woodwork and painting, all set in beautiful grounds with locals happily playing cards, exercising or knitting.

This is the largest gate in the Forbidden City. After corssing the Meridian Gate (Wu men) you reach a court where you will see 5 white stone bridges that cross the Inner Golden Water River, a channel of 2 Km length dug in order to protect the Forbidden City from fire and flooding. The square beyond the river is 10.000 square meters. The Gate, which is the main entrance to the Outer Court, is guarded by 2 bronze lions that simoblize the imperial power. The hall inside the Gate is where the wedding of the emperor was usually held. After crossing the Gate you'll reach the Outer Court, with the huge Hall of Great Harmony .

Across from historic Tiananmen Square, the Gate of Heavenly Peace (Tiananmen) stands as the main entranceway for visitors to The Forbidden City. Once the domain of the emperor and his court, The Forbidden City is now a palace museum, a reminder of China's imperial past. But above the Gate, a huge portrait of Chairman Mao looks out onto the Square, a reminder that this is no longer imperial China but the Communist China proclaimed by Mao in the Square nearly 70 years ago. The Gate, the red walls around it and the imposing portrait of Mao above are iconic symbols of China. Try not taking lots of photos in the direction of the Gate on a first visit to Tiananmen Square!
