We recently returned to this excellent pocket park, situated at the rear end of Finedon,a short distance from the A6.On this occasion we decided to walk further than our last visit following the old railway sleepers through a heavily wooded area for about half a mile before it finally taking us out onto a housing estate. The walk is about a 40 minute all round trip and parking is available on the road immediately next to the entrance to the walk.A very peaceful walk which branches off in various directions and encourages responsible dog walkers.Visited August 12th 2017.

Having just completed the entire 15 miles of this excellent route in stages, I returned to do the whole walk in one effort. I got dropped off in Kingsthorpe and began my walk passing the tracked section as well as the old signal box before continuing towards Boughton. There are several places to park on route including a decent sized car park at Maidwell and a smaller one near the Kelmarsh tunnel where the old station was located. The walk took me 6 hours and I thoroughly enjoyed the first and last sections best, the last section was Oxendon to Little Bowden where the path ends by a busy road. The only thing missing was a drinks/snack wagon and toilet facilities are practically non existent apart from the few nearby pubs along the way.Perhaps not the most attractive route I have completed but still really enjoyable with beautiful countryside to be enjoyed.

I have been twice this year and may go again before the years out. Toilets clean river and lake are great and it's just a nice peaceful getaway.

I have seen the signs for this little station on many occasions previously but struggled to park on Elton road. I had both of my daughters with me on this occasion and we found the station using the Nene way footpath. We parked in Yarwell country park and followed the path until we saw a fairly faded sign for the station. We located a well concealed gateway and eventually found the little station and reserve. There are fishing lakes located nearby and plenty of wildlife dotted around too. As for this little station, it is the last on the line and has had investment in recent years and looks very well cared for too. Obviously there were no trains running on the day we visited but check for future travel as this looks like a lovely little novelty train trip. I have often said it is such a pity that most of out train tracks were pulled up or abandoned in the 1960s so it is always refreshing to see some left and still running. There is a quite uneven footpath running alongside a part of the track with seating for viewing. A lovely part of our county and beauty in abundance. Visited 14th may 2020.
