A spectacular walk on the South West Coast Path that takes you from the village of Studland past the famous landmark of Old Harry – the eastern end of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site - and on to Swanage.
We walked from South beach car park up to Old Harry's Rocks then up to Ballard Down , then back to the village. The views are amazing and although you are ascending all the time, it is quite gentle climb. Worth going early to get parked but also before the crowds

A 2 mile walk along part of the South West Coast Path from Lulworth Cove to the nearby fossilised forest – highlights of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
Amazing views from the coastal walk across Lulworth bay and beyond. If you are around the area, do come and visit, because you can make it as long or short as you like. It is an amazing area of the coastline and you will not regret visiting. What I don't understand is people rating this 1 star because of areas of the coastline being affected by rock falls. These are a natural process and so can not be helped. Even if Fossil Forest is closed, there is plenty more to do on the walk, plus this could be for conservation or army training; two perfectly valid things to shut this area temporary off for. Do come and visit this amazing coastal walk. You will not regret it.

A varied 4.7 mile walk classed as Moderate along the South West Coast Path as it heads along the east coast of Portland, passing great scenery, historical forts and old quarry workings. Many of the paths around Portland Bill are accessible for powered wheelchair users and rugged pushchairs. The first ½ mile of this route follows a level wide path, but after this becomes more varied with some steep and uneven sections before reaching Church Ope Cove. From the cove to Portland Heights the path is relatively level apart from one steep climb.
Wednesday 16th September and we visited the Isle of Portland where this Plateau is a feature. We parked up in the Portland Bill Car Park and went exploring. The most famous landmark here is the Lighthouse which stands on Portland Bill. Another impressive landmark is the Trinity House Obelisk. There is so much more to see here including Pulpit Rock and the dramatic and rugged coastline. We got take away coffees from the Lobster Pot Cafe and went for a brief stroll across Portland Commons. Thankfully it was a glorious sunny day and it showed off the Plateau at it's very best.

A challenging walk along the South West Coast Path. It is a switchback up and down four hills before returning along a relatively level ridge. It offers great photo opportunities passing some of the geological highlights of the Jurassic Coast. In late Spring and early summer the limestone grassland beside the path is full of rare flowers and clouds of butterflies.
Enjoy the stunning views on your way. You park your car, you get out of the car ... and just BREATHE in the divinity of nature around you ... Aaah !! This place is so serene ... the sound of the waves, the visual play, the clouds, the sun rays penetrating through the clouds ... and then of course the Durdle Door ... a door at the shore leading you into the sea. Must visit.

A moderate 3.8 mile stroll along the South West Coast Path around the much-photographed chalk stacks rising spectacularly from the clear water off The Foreland at Studland. The same sea that carved the soft rock into caves and arches also polished the vertical cliffs to a dazzling white. There are far-ranging views over Swanage in one direction and Wareham and Bournemouth in the other. There are some long but gentle climbs and descents.
When visiting tyneham, you need to understand its not a theme park or a adventure playground. This is a national Trust area, its all about our history and our countryside. There are toilets. The beach is a good mile walk and from the village.

A 6 mile rewarding South West Coast Path walk through 5000 years of history, including travelling above the coastline along the South Dorset Ridgeway, a Stone Age route peppered with archaeological remains. Below, St Peter's Abbey was a fifth century holy site. Subtropical gardens, a swannery and a fourteenth century chapel add to the many charms of the picturesque village of Abbotsbury.

A 5.2 mile invigorating walk along a chalk ridge and the South West Coast Path with spectacular views over coast and countryside. The area is rich in history, from the earliest prehistoric times, as well as being of geological importance and having an abundance of wildlife, not forgetting the Tower That Moved. Allow time to browse the Purbeck Marine Wildlife Reserve and Kimmeridge village.
Super friendly car park people. It made a really nice difference (discussing the walks with the lady at the toll entrance) to our coastal path walking holiday.

A brief expedition - 4.7 miles - through many layers of Dorset history, including a Roman temple and villa, as well as a chalk horse carved into the hillside, carrying George III away from Weymouth. There is evidence of ancient agricultural methods at Osmington, and the manor here was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, while its thatched smugglers' inn dates from the thirteenth century. Children will love the white horse and the foundations of the Roman villa. There are some gentle climbs and descents but nothing too strenuous.
Spent the weekend at The Smugglers Inn and as usual had some lovely walks around the local area. There are some great walking tracks across the cliffs and beaches around Osmington Mill so take the time to have a good look around should you ever be close
