Food has always been part of our communities. Having multiple ethnicities where you live gives you great chance to be a part of so many celebrations. And with all these celebrations there is always a meal. So you see, us Malaysians take our food very seriously. Food Tour Malaysia Food in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur is unique. Some dishes here you will not be able to find in other parts of the country, and if you do, chances are that they probably could trace their roots to these 2 cities. Penang being the only other exception. The daily ritual of eating communally is one of the most endearing of Malaysian experiences. It is warm, and it's at the dinner table where you get to really understand and get the authentic 'feel', the heartbeat of the Malaysian community.

Come and visit Lazat Malaysian Cooking School and bring back an authentic taste of Malaysia! Our hands-on cooking classes are held Monday to Saturday and presented in English by entertaining Malaysian instructors. We are located just outside Kuala Lumpur city centre and our school is furnished with purpose made demonstration tables and individual cooking stations. Each day of the week we teach a different ethnic menu and provide detailed explanations of ingredients and cooking methods. Students individually prepare their own 4-course lunch, usually consisting of an appetizer, main course, side dish and dessert. Malaysian cuisine is a unique fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian and Baba-Nonya flavors, drawing upon our country's rich history as an historical crossroads for explorers and traders from around the globe. At LaZat our goal is to bring Malaysian cooking to the world by sharing with you our family recipes, which we have savored and perfected over generations.
I absolutely loved this cooking class. We got a transfer from our hotel in KL in a very comfortable mink bus (which I recommend) and were taken to the market. The market tour was very interesting and we ate delicious roti canai, as well as saw it being made. The cooking class itself is excellent value. We did the Malaysian classic. The ladies who run the place are so friendly and spent time chatting to us about the country, giving us recommendations and were incredibly hospitable. We cooked in the most incredible setting and were even given cold towels to keep us cool. This class is well worth every penny and I highly recommend it. You even get a recipe book to take home.

Gained new knowledge about Batik and it is great for the younger generation to learn more about traditional art. Ms Emilia was nice to talk with and taught us well????

Learn how to cook Malaysian local cuisines in an old colonial house in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. This is a four hours hands on session, have fun, make new friends, share your experiences and bring back the joy and learnings back to your country.
This restaurant serves only Malay cuisine as the hostess Christina informed us as we took our seats. The food is absolutely delicious and the spices were toned down on our request. The Nasi Goreng Paprik was soothing...fried rice with a chicken stew with veggies, very light on the stomach. Serving sizes are large so we had to pack the second dish Lobak...fried tofu and veggies wrapped in bean curd sheets. Christina also runs cooking classes in the restaurant. A friendly person, she shared her travels to India. The ambience is unique resembling the interiors of an orthodox Malay residence. Full Mark's for food, ambience, hospitality and very reasonably priced dishes. A must visit restaurant in KL.
