Fonte Sacra Su Tempiesu

Reviewed By meaghannc2016 - San Diego, United States

We visited Orune for the last weekend of Autunno in Barbagia and couldn’t skip the opportunity to see this ancient and mystical temple. The grounds are beautiful and well curated while maintaining the purity of the wildness of Sardinia. The trails are marked with handcrafted signs marking the flora and fauna of the area which keeps the trail interesting. There are a couple traditional pastoral dwellings along the way and when you arrive at the Temple it is truly awe inspiring. Imagining that humans constructed this temple thousands of years ago is mind boggling when you see the detail and the precision in each stone. Highly recommend this off the beaten path find.

Jebel Sardinia

Jebel Sardinia was founded in 2016 to turn our passion into our job, after graduating in Natural Sciences and becoming official Sardinian trekking guide. Our base camp is Orosei, a small coastal town located in a strategic position: the right starting point to explore the regions of Barbagia, the Gulf of Orosei, Supramonte, Baronia and Gallura. While we guide our clients, we like to show them how magical it is to wake up in such a mysterious land: where the sun welcomes colourful days, full of sweet scents and indescribable emotions. Living in touch with nature in this territory always draws a smile on our faces! We take you where you will have breathtaking views; you will discover hidden caves surrounded by a crystal-clear turquoise sea; you will be transported into the past by our stories about Sardinian History; we will show you wild animals and plants. We just ask you to bring along some enthusiasm and spirit of discovery in your backpack! Sergio

The walk from the parking area to the entrance was as amazing as the gola itself. I would recommend to take plenty of water, sneakers, and some sunscreen with you in summer. This is not a place for wheelchairs or high heels unfortunately.

We visited in March and kayaked in Cedrino for the afternoon. Loved how serene the water was despite some wind and the fact that was nobody else but us in the river.
