This Monestary was built originally in the 1500’s and then rebuilt several times one of the most recent ones being because a fire in their Meade distillery caused the most of the monestary to burn down...that’s right monks making booze caused this to burn down! Beautiful town of Samos should be a preferred route on the Camino vs the more popular route of Sarria. The hostel in the monestary is a free will donation if they have a bed and is very minimalistic. There are several other hostels in the area should this be full. Highly recommended this stop along the Camino!
