An amazing afternoon spent with Nimi has taught me so much about Keralan food. As someone with fairly limited cooking skills and no previous experience cooking Indian food, the class was not intimidating and the explanation extremely clear. Nimi starts with an in depth explanation of spices and how they are used in keralan cooking, how things compares to north Indian cooking, tips on how to cook with the spices and suitable substitutes if you can find those spices back home. After this we started preparing the dishes Nimi had chosen for us, she gave us all a chance to get involved with various tasks and made sure to explain each step and answering any questions. After a few hours we could finally enjoy the fruits of our labour, which were delicious! Nimi is very knowledgable, patient, humble and brought good humour to the afternoon. She even encouraged us to email her with any questions whenever we liked. Nimi is understandably only able to conduct classes for 2 or more people. As I was travelling on my own, I asked if there were any upcoming classes already confirmed that I could join. She kindly organised a class for me and another solo traveller who had enquired and I'm so glad it worked out, the experience was amazing.

The spice garden is managed by Mr Abraham family and is spread over many acres. When we arrived, it was raining heavily. We took out our umbrellas and started the tour. It’s feels like everything is there in the garden and Mr Abraham shares such interesting facts, uses and varieties, medicinal qualities etc that one is amazed at how beautifully such a garden has co-existed. Each and every inch of the garden is planted with something and is a treat to walk around. Highly recommended if anyone is in Thekaddy. Don’t miss out the organic products which can be bought at his home. ????????

This place is located in Iduki district and the boarder of kottayam. Still untouched by commercialisation, the sleepy town is surrounded by valleys, green meadows, pine forests, mists, fogs, tea estates, waterfalls and overall greenery. The landscape is mostly hilly bald with green meadows. Vagamon is also home to a variety of flowers and orchids. Three hills - Thangal, Murugan and kurisumala.I have visited vagamon in the last year may with my four friends.

Meesapulimala

Reviewed By SathyS6

Me and my family visited Meesapulimala on March 31, 2018. Reached Munnar by noon. Parked car at forest office and started in a jeep arranged by them. 10 kms off-road driving was a stress test for my backbone. We stayed at rhodo mansion, small cottage for a middle class family. Do not expect luxury apartment here. The temperature was 16 c at night. Food was tasty. The staff were very friendly. They prepared a campfire. Next day by 6 am, we went to the top of the hill just behind the cottage. It was the most beautiful scene ever.. the rising sun, the Colors, the cool breeze.. amazing western ghats.. mesmerizing experience. We came back to the cottage and had breakfast. Then started our actual trekking. First 2 hills was somewhat steap, next 4 hills where easy to climb. Last one again slightly steap. When we reached the top of meesapulimala, the sun was bright. We took a different route for return and we could spot a deer. When we reached back at the cottage, heavy rain started. The Jeep was waiting for us. Had to take a quick lunch. Again that horrible off road drive, this time a bit more scary, due to the slippery rocks and poor visibility. But still I love this place.
