While you shouldn’t miss the views from the top of the paved trail, don’t overlook the Amazing hike of the Wagon Trail! It was more rugged and lonely with fewer hikers. It really felt like we were on an adventure. We were visiting the third week of March and the weather that day was perfect with clear blue skies and about 40 degrees. The rhododendron and laurel had not bloomed yet, but we thought it would be beautiful in a few weeks! Expect to walk through some mud and areas where the streams converge with the trail. Don’t miss it!

Trackrock Stables is located in a valley of over 250 acres of land in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains, surrounded by mountains on three sides, which is the Chattahoochee National Forest. Typically, we are open daily for guided 1 & 2 hour trail rides starting at 9:15am, with our last ride heading out at 4:00pm. Trackrock Stables offers a horseback riding adventure you will long remember. On your guided trail ride, you will see that our beautiful valley is home to wild turkey, deer and many other types of wildlife and lush, colorful foliage. Both the first time and skilled rider will find a well trained horse to suit their level of horseback riding experience. You will have the opportunity to learn horsemanship from one of our experienced trail guides as you ride through crystal clear mountain streams and canter your horse through peaceful green meadows. In addition to guided rides, we also offer private and group riding lessons, as well as short-term and long-term boarding.

Best kept secret in Blairsville, GA!! Sundance Gallery is a charming little gallery/gift store, that's a little "off the beaten path", offering unique and interesting items made by American artists and craftsmen. It's a hidden gem in the country (about 7 miles south of the Blairsville Town Square), with a HUGE selection of pottery from all over the United States, but also features the works of local and regional artists and craftsmen. Come see a variety of finely crafted pottery, glass art, woodcraft, home decor items and much more.
Sundance Gallery and Gift is hands down one of my favorite places to visit in N. GA. From Gordy the shop dog to the beautiful local gifts and pottery to just the genuinely kind shop owner Julie, this place is a feast for the eyes and a respite for the soul.

Sunrise Grocery is the oldest business in Union County in its original location. We like to stay local and carry all kinds of Appalachian goods. We have jams n jellies, honey n syrup, soaps, pottery, ethanol free fuel, firewood, and hand knitted items.
Peanuts being boiled outside. Staff are very welcoming. The store is large with unique gifts. There are framed prints from a local artist. It is definitely worth a visit if you are in town.

We spent a couple of days in the Blairsville area and I wanted to check this winery out. This is a wonderful spot. Shari made us feel at home and was a pleasure to talk to. The wines are outstanding! Shari also gave us some great tips for dining. Definitely a place to stop while in the area. We will visit again

My wife and I traveled to Vogel State Park on my birthday to hike the Bear Hair Gap Trail which climbs into the Blood Mountain Wilderness. The park was extremely busy and near capacity. We barely got in around 11 am. I recommend coming early. The trail begins near the cabins. Once we got onto the trail, the crowds rapidly thinned out. Bear Hair Gap Trail is mostly a back country trail. We had to ford many small streams. The scenery was stunning! The air was refreshing despite the high humidity of late May. Our first goal was to reach Vogel Overlook which was about a 1000 foot climb. This was a rigorous climb and I had to stop frequently to make it. The overlook gave us a rare opportunity to see where the car was parked giving us perspective on how high we climbed. Rather than head straight back down the mountain, we decided to hike deeper into the wilderness toward Blood Mountain. The trail only rose slowly for the next couple of miles. Near the intersection with the Coosa Backcountry trail, we discovered a several hundred foot high waterfall in the trees. It wasn’t shown on any map. We were amazed and so excited! Our hike back down the Coosa trail too was exciting with more waterfalls and rock formations frequently emerging out of the forest as we hiked. The solitude and beauty of this area was wonderful. I can not recommend this hike enough!

Meet the gentle alpaca up close and personal. Learn about raising alpacas and what we do with the fiber. Visit our farm store/gallery where you will find hand made products made from our own alpacas as well as hand made glass beads and unique jewelry. Learn how to felt using alpaca in one of our classes we teach on the farm. APPOINTMENT REQUIRED.
This is an actual working alpaca farm. They use the fiber from the alpacas for a variety of things. The owner is very nice and explains what the do at the farm. They also have classes available. The animals are very sweet and you are allowed to pet them. The tour is free but they will take donations and there are things to purchase. The tour and shopping took about one hour.
