A rainy day only made this a more beautiful and adventurous drive up the mountain. The distillerie is beautiful in not only in its design but the tropical landscape that surrounds it is breathtaking. A self-paced tour with free rum tasting to cap it off was a great way to spend the day. Unfortunately it wasn’t production time so we couldn’t see actual operation or get the scents of distillation but the tour was simple to follow.

Very nice hike trail at Caravelle. I did the full route by myself, in Jan 2020. The hike is about 4 hours (including breaks). The trail was clearly marked and maps/signs on every crossroads. Basic trekking shoes / sneakers are needed. Plenty of water (1,5-2 litres) needed. It is best to go clock-wise (Take the left at the beginning). There is an amazing beach at the end of the trail, perfect white sand.
