If you have time for only one place in Kuopio, this is it. In front oh the over 100 years old building you can see the Finnish doppelgänger for Manneken Piss, the statue Veljmies. Inside the Market Hall you can buy local delicases (such as kalakukko)!and watch local old-timers exhancing news and spending time over a cup of coffee.

The Parliament of Finland is the unicameral supreme legislature, founded on 9 May 1906. The Parliament consists of 200 members, 199 of whom are elected every four years. In addition, there is one member from Åland. The Parliament House is the seat of the Parliament of Finland. This landmark building is located in Helsinki, in the district of Töölö by the main street Mannerheimintie. The building was completed in 1931. The main architect was Johan Sigfrid Siren who designed this red-granite building in a stripped classical architectural style combining Neoclassicism with early twentieth-century modernism. The facade is lined by fourteen columns with Corinthian capitals.

As in every town we were in Europe, the City Hall also here in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, was the first spot we started with in our exploration of this Nordic, Scandinavian metropole. That is a central, administrative building of City of Helsinki, located near to Market Square and in the vicinity of the harbour in central Helsinki. Very pleasant light blue facade with the rows of six white columns on the ground level and the first storey adorns beautifully this architectural deed of great master, designer Carl Ludvig Engel. Here, in the building of City Hall, are the offices of the Mayor of Helsinki, then meeting rooms for the City Council and City Board. Really imposing architecture for such important institution.

The Presidential Palace in Helsinki is one of the official residences in Helsinki of the President of the Republic of Finland. It is situated on the north side of Esplanadi, overlooking Market Square. I witnessed the same when I was touring the city in the hop on hop off bus and even got down to get a closer look. In its role as the official residence of the President of Finland, the Presidential Palace has hosted a number of important foreign visitors and dignitaries. Royal visitors to the palace have included Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Olav V of Norway, Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, Juan Carlos I of Spain, the Mohammad Reza Pahlavi of Iran, and Emperor Akihito of Japan as well. I am not sure if you can get a tour of the palace because I could not. Tour or not, the Presidential palace is wonderful place to be when you are in

Now known as the Government Palace, it was designed by the renowned Carl Ludwig Engel as the Senate of what was then the autonomous Grand Duchy of Finland. Today it is home to Government Offices. It has a marvellous facade with the yellow and white features looking particularly attractive against the blue sky.
