Florence is an art historian’s dream. The Galleria dell'Accademia bursts with works by Michelangelo, who is entombed within the frescoed walls of the Basilica di Santa Croce. Giuliano Ricchi

Reviewed By 156sydneym

I heard about Giuliano Ricchi's workshop after admiring a friend's embossed business card holder. She told me about an artisan tour in Florence that she took, and I was inspired to go! I visited on a Thursday morning around 10:00. When I rang the buzzer, a man came and led me through the building to his workshop on the ground floor. He was very kind and showed me around the workshop in the basement, even turning a piece of scrap metal through the machines so I could see how the process worked in full. Then, I went shopping! The pieces are all so beautiful. He demonstrated what some of them were and left me to my devices. Additionally, once I selected pieces, he had magazine clippings to show the price difference between his workshop and the stores that commissioned them in the states. Big price difference! One warning: it's cash only, so bring a lot. There is an atm in the square if you need it.
