The geographical heart of England, Birmingham started life as a sixth- century Anglo-Saxon village. Today, much of this city of over a million dates back to post-WWII redevelopment in the 1950s and 60s. Cutting edge museums and galleries, innovative theaters and excellent shopping have contributed to Birmingham's appeal as a weekend break destination. Don't miss the hopping bars and cafes of Gas Street Basin or the fascinating creatures at the National Sea Life Centre.

Lockdown has meant for all of us that it is really difficult to find, buy and post a special gift for a friend or relative. I was lucky to find The Purple Gallery online. During Lockdown they are closed for personal visits but open for online orders. In addition they are offering free postage for orders over £15 during Lockdown. But what makes Jane of The Purple Gallery really special is the extra mile she travels to make your gift extra special. I have ordered three sets of gifts for various people with January birthdays. Jane has wrapped them for me and addressed a card with the name, Happy Birthday and our names, and posted them. One friend sent me photos of her gift wrap, she was so thrilled. And she loved the unusual earrings too. The jewellery is lovely as are the other ceramics, artwork, etc., and I enjoyed browsing. I also bought some art cards and notelets. I am really pleased with the service I received and look forward to visiting in person.

Guthrie & Ghani is a treasure trove of delights for anyone who loves to sew, knit, crochet and be crafty! We offer a friendly welcoming service in our gorgeous store where the expert staff can help and advise you on planning a new project. We sell a large variety of top quality dressmaking, home interiors and crafting fabrics along with all the tools and notions you'll need to get creative. We also offer a large range of sewing and crafting workshops in our amazing light and bright studio above the shop so all levels of abilities. It's an amazing place to spend an evening or day sewing and learning new skills.
Finally got round to booking and attending a class and it was just as I had hoped. A relaxing evening where I could learn a new skill in a small group. Lauren has a beautiful shop which made me nostalgic for dressmaking as a child. She was a great teacher and the small group meant she could give individual help as required. Felt I had really learnt some good basics and could be confident to knit at home and try my own projects. Level 2 sounds interesting too! Would highly recommend.

Luxury chocolate gifts from our new and exciting luxury chocolate shop based in Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter. We provide luxury chocolate gifts as an alternative to the mediocre, mass produced and tasteless chocolates available in supermarkets and high streets. Everything we do is based on two core principals. Only the best ingredients will do and people will always come back for good chocolate. You will find luxury chocolate gifts, intricate chocolate sculptures. Handmade, intense and uniquely flavoured artisan chocolate truffles. Luxury and bespoke gift boxes perfect for special occasions or to really impress your corporate clients. All available in our chocolaterie based in Birmingham or online We provide an unparalleled taste experience and are well worth the indulgence.
The Truffle Making experience was fantastic and completely worth the money for anyone who loves chocolate. Everyone was so kind and polite to us during our experience and were so patient that we spent 3 hours in the store when the page estimates around 2. The COVID measures in place were great with hand sanitiser and check in QR code provided and all staff wearing visors and gloves to handle food. The staff were also able to cater to nut allergies and to provide alcohol free drinks on request. I fully recommend the Truffle Experience, learning about where chocolate actually comes from and what higher quality chocolate tastes like. Hand piping, chocolate coating and decorating truffles was very fun which we took home in presentation boxes. To finish our day off we had a huge chocolate fondue set with their own liquid milk chocolate (which you have the option to choose from dark, milk or white) which is delicious and surprisingly not sickly. We were treated with such kindness and welcoming during our entire stay and they made the whole day very special for the guest I brought for their birthday. The chocolate itself in the store is very high quality and tasting the Chocolate Quarter’s chocolate makes you realise how sugary and sickly other chocolate is. I cannot fault any part of our experience or anything about any interaction with anyone in the shop.

Classic Diamonds is a family run business offering diamond engagement rings and diamond set jewellery that is crafted for you with generations of experience, based in the famous Jewellery Quarter Birmingham United Kingdom
I was so scared when I decided it was time to buy an engagement ring. It was daunting. I am not really into jewellery but didn't want to get it wrong. I needed guidance. On top of that I had had some negative experiences at a couple of jewellers previously when, as a woman, I was going to buy a ring for my girlfriend. Yes it's 2020 but some people still say 'ohhhh, ok, right' in a tone that makes you run. Classic Diamonds however were not those people. I met Nicki first, when I mentioned who I was buying for, she quite rightly didn't bat an eyelid. She helped me and then passed me over to Jon. He had the patience of a Saint. In total I spent nearly 3hrs with him as he helped me understand (my way!) every aspect of the ring. He took time to learn about my girlfriend which in turn helped him suggest designs I hadn't considered. He didn't rush me, if he was fed up of my questions - he didn't show it. He worked within my given budget, no pressure to exceed it. When I explained I couldn't 'visualise' things and I had to physically see them he and Nicki found physical designs I could hold. In the end, I walked out having designed a ring and then waited to pick it up. Within a month it was ready and what a stunning ring it was. Perfect in every way. Jon had listened to everything I said and created the most beautiful ring which my new fiancée loves - and I love. It was all so great, we went back and got my gorgeous solitaire ring from the team too. Im due course our wedding bands will be purchased from Classic Diamonds too. It's a shame an engagement ring isn't something you buy regularly as I would love to spend all that time designing it again! I can't believe I am writing this - but it was a fun experience. Painless. If you want jewellery made by a team who really care about not only their products but customers too, alongside taking pride in their work - Classic Diamonds should be your First and last stop. Thank you Jon, Nicki and Wendy!
