A one-hour tour of one of Jefferson's most historic - and haunted - locations. The Grove is an 1861 home that uniquely mirrors the history of the riverport city... and the ghost stories there go back over 100 years. The history of the home is fascinating; it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. Along with the history, though, you'll hear ghost stories from the owners and find out just what it's like to live in a haunted home. Come visit The Grove for a peek into Jefferson's past... and a few residents who may still be hanging around!
We did 4 guided tours in Jefferson and while they were all awesome, this one was my favorite. I loved hearing the history of the house and the feeling of happy spirits who are attached to it. Mitchell is a great story teller and historian. Make sure to put this one in your travel plans!

A former ghost town that offers a General Store and souvenir shops as well as THE Gristmill and Gruene Hall.
There is lot to see in Gruene. I really enjoyed sampling peanut butter and salsas. Also the outdoor waiting at the grist mill restaurant was enjoyable because of beautiful scenery, nice music and friendly people. I will definitely be visiting again.

We went here for the 1st time today but it will not be in the last. The staff is friendly and amazing. And although we did not eat any food we did see several families come in and eat. On the grounds there are so many buildings and a maze and so much to see and do. A giant game of hide-and-seek or ghost in the graveyard is way so much fun here .We will definitely be back

Town which was abandoned after the mercury deposits were depleted.
Our family really enjoyed our stay in Terlingua. It was the perfect spot in between Big Bend National Park & Big Bend Ranch State Park. We loved the rich history of the old mine town and the locals were very friendly and helpful. We visited many sites in both parks, the Starlight theatre, the trading post, the jail, the cemetery, and DBs Rustic Iron BBQ.

If you like history and old buildings, you will like Old Helena, even though during the pandemic you can't enter the grounds. It is located only a few miles north of Karnes City Courthouse, and is definitely worth stopping. The caretakers are very nice and friendly - they saw us walking around the fence line and taking photos, so they came to visit behind the fence, and handed us a brochure. You can walk around the fence line though, and you are able to look into the windows of the John Ruckman house in the back (official address of John Ruckman House is 526 County Road 300).

Living in Houston we love to get out and explore when we can. Drove down here on a loop stopping at various places of historic interest. Pretty interesting history of Indianola and alot of people seem to have set up holiday homes etc. Worth a stop if passing.

Between the old buildings, cemetery, and selection of stores and restaurants in a rustic setting the Ghost Town is a must stop location. Steeped in history stemming from the missing rush for mercury of the late 1800’s the Ghost Town still holds remnants of the old days. There is a gift shop of course, several restaurants and bars, and a great coffee shop. The cemetery was reminiscent of one you’d see on an old spaghetti western movie. On Dias de la Muerte there is a special candle light ceremony which is very popular and crazy crowded. At least one bar/lounge has live music. Overall it’s a must stop while in Terlingua.
