Every neighborhood in San Francisco has its own personality, from the hippie chic of the Upper Haight to the hipster grit of the Mission. The Marina district boasts trendy bistros and postcard-perfect views of the Golden Gate Bridge, while Noe Valley offers quaint and quiet boutiques. Wave hello to the sea lions at Pier 39, and sample local cheese and charcuterie at the Ferry Building. Sit in on a yoga session in Dolores Park or marvel at the Dutch Windmill across from Ocean Beach.

Welcome to San Francisco Botanical Garden, one of the most diverse gardens in the world. The Botanical Garden is a living museum within Golden Gate Park, offering 55 acres of both landscaped gardens and open spaces, showcasing over 8,500 different kinds of plants from around the world.
These gardens are truly special and worth a couple of hours to explore as they are full of unusual plants and flowers. Come on a sunny day.

The oldest existing building in Golden Gate Park, this Victorian-era greenhouse showcases a wide variety of tropical and seasonal flowers.
This Victorian style greenhouse in the Golden Gate Park should not be missed. Beautiful orchids and carnivorous plants.

Four-acre refuge in Golden Gate Park featuring Japanese architecture and gardens.
It costs $9 per adult and it's worth every penny! This is a gorgeous garden filled with such beauty for the eyes to behold! We spent at least 40 minutes there. Every moment was a delight!

I happened upon this set of stairs as part of the Crosstown trail, and was not aware that there was more than one set of tiled steps in San Francisco! Done by the same artists and using the same colourful mosaic tiling technique, these stairs are tucked a little more tightly in between the neighboring houses, which gives them more of a "secret garden" feel. Take the time to stop and really admire the details of the overall project, and appreciate that a whole neighborhood got together to make this installation possible.

There are 2 windmills at the western most end of Golden Gate Park. The Dutch Windmill is at the north corner and has a beautiful tulip garden which was in full bloom the 3rd week of March. It’s a very small park with the windmill and tulips gardens in the immediate area but is a must see particularly in spring when the flowers are in bloom. There are no public restrooms and there can be many people even in slow times because the park is very small. We loved the park and would highly recommend visiting. At the other corner of the south end of Golden Gate Park is the Murphy Windmill which has just a Windmill to see along with a small keepers house and a couple placards with history but nothing else in that immediate area.

Five acres of shade trees and murmuring fountains which adjoin the Moscone Convention Center.
I did a return visit to Yerba Buena Gardens. This park has a variety of museums such as the Children's Museum and Art Museum There is the big slide, carousel, bowling and ice skating. There is a large green area. By that green area is the Martin Luther King Memorial and Waterfalls. There are preformances at the Blue Shield of Califoria theater There are cafes such a Samovar Tea. It is also close to the Metreon Center and the Moscone Convention Center.
