Since 1141, the Ricasoli family has been making wines from the vineyards surrounding their estate, Brolio Castle, making it the world's oldest winemaking operation under continuous family control.
This castle is beautiful and has incredible views of the hills below it, and was the perfect setting for me to propose to my girlfriend! The winery associated with it is gorgeous as well and you get a free glass of wine there with your castle ticket. We are certainly going back someday soon!

Badia a Coltibuono or "The Abbey of good harvest," is approximately two thousand years old, which today serves as a vast estate composed of vineyards, chestnut and olive trees, all producing some of Tuscany's finest wines.
We booked a tour and wine tasting after lunch in the restaurant. We had a fantastic lunch and it’s lovely views and great service. The tour and wine tasting lasted ver 90 mins and we were really well liked after by our guide who spoke perfect English and was able to switch between her native Italian with some clients and us. We were 8 in the group. All worked Covid secure and sensible precautions unlike others have mentioned. The Abbey is an amazing place, well worth a visit in its own but why wouldn’t you eat here as well!!

From 1925 to 1939, an Englishman, Cecil Pinsent, restructured buildings and created harmonious gardens on this estate. The gardens are open to the public and are also the setting for numerous cultural events throughout the year.

We didn't go inside the villa, but the garden around the villa and up the hill behind it was full of lemon trees, wisteria, irises, and a green pathway up to an amphitheater with statues, beyond which was the penitential staircase made for Pope Alexander VII, for whom Bernini made a tomb in St. Peter's. At the top of the hill of this long crumbling staircase is a Romitorio, where a real monk lived until the nineteenth century. We couldn't make it all the way up, but those who did felt truly "beatified." Make sure to look at the double stairs at the back of the villa, too; they are probably the model for Chiswick in England since they predate Burlington's building. We saw both this garden and La Foce in the same trip and loved both for different reasons. Cetinale absorbs the hill into the landscape of the garden, while La Foce forces the viewer to compare the "intimate rooms" of the garden with the vast land beyond.

The restaurant Orto de 'Pecci in Siena is located in a beautiful green valley at 200m. Piazza del Campo and is managed by the Cooperative Proposal.
a magical green paradise in the middle of medieval Siena, (goats and peacock included). The history, the garden, the pici at the restaurant, the kindness of the people made this experience, the high of our day in Siena, for adults, kids and even adolescents.... Highly recommended

Now a public park, it used to be an italian styled garden owned by a certain Diomede Leoni as his own private gardens but which he also allowed other people and pilgrims to visit, a quite rare thing for the time. The view from there over the surrounding hills was really nice.
