Haddonstone is the UK's leading manufacturer of fine garden ornaments and architectural cast stone with standard designs ranging from planters, fountains and statues to balustrades, follies and even fireplaces. The company's showgardens attract visitors from around the world because they are real gardens, surrounding the Manor House in the centre of a Cotswold type village called East Haddon - from where the company takes its name. Visitors are given an attractive fold out map and are offered a company catalogue yet are free to browse at no charge as there is no entry charge (sales staff are there to assist if requested). The gardens have been divided into numerous "rooms" and so are considered inspirational by visitors looking for ideas for their own gardens - whether traditional, classical or contemporary. Normally only open during the working week (Monday to Friday 9-5.30), the gardens are closed at weekends, Bank Holidays and the Christmas period. They are occasionally open at weekends as part of the NGS (Yellow Book) charity scheme - see the company website for details.
Very stylish gardens and the stone works are something else.loved the fountain. Lovely day out even if you're not buying.

Castle Ashby Gardens is home to Parkland designed by Capability Brown, Formal Italian Gardens, an Arboretum, and a small Animal Menagerie. The Gardens are extremely well maintained and are among the best in the county. There is something here for everyone.
Having been underwhelmed by several local National Trust properties, we visited this privately owned estate. Wow! totally blown away, so much to see and do - the chilli collection alone is worth coming for, who knew there were so many varieties of chilli peppers! And the little zoo - where you really can get up close and personal to the animals, who, by the way, all look really well cared for. The gardens are just beautiful - varying from the manicured to the wild. And, unlike some properties, there are no signs up telling you not to do this and that, you are free to wander and discover the beauty of this place. It's the kind of place you could come back to repeatedly and still find something different. We absolutely loved it.
