Marie Louise Gardens is a 4.75 acre oasis of peace and seclusion in one of Manchester's most densely populated suburbs. It is situated to the south east of Palatine Road as it runs between West Didsbury and Northenden, and is adjacent to both the Blackburn Park and Albert Park conservation areas. Tucked away behind a busy main road, it is often described as a hidden gem.

Hulme Community Garden Centre (HCGC) is a unique community led inner-city horticultural project and charity (XR39212). Our mission is to bring the local community together through gardening. As a not-for-profit organisation we provide low-cost plants to the local community but we are foremost a volunteer & education hub promoting horticultural and sustainability issues across greater Manchester.

Leave the busy and hectic pace of downtown Manchester behind when you visit these lovely gardens in the suburbs.

I’ve never been here before but went today as part of my daily exercise and what a stunning place. There’s so much to see from the woodland walk, the River Mersey to the amazing rock garden which has to be seen. I will definitely be visiting again when the lockdown is over with friends.

The Japanese Garden is my favourite part of the garden...quiet, peaceful with beautiful trees all well cared for...each area gives you joy and harmony...the beautiful mature trees surrounding the labyrinth give you a place to sit and unwind... in the spring you can see hosts of daffodils...its well respected by all visitors...

Walton park is a great relaxing area with ample space for a dog walk with the canal walk nearby for a stroll. The model train collection and the track run by volunteers is a great treat for small children and parents. The facilities for sports and kids amenities are also good.

A small park in the heart of the gay village, which features memorials and space to reflect. We host regular events, including Manchester Pride. The daily free tour of Manchester starts here every day at 11am, by the Alan Turing Memorial. The park is maintained by the 'Friends of Sackville Gardens'
Often visit here when in Manchester and the gay village with my partner. During pride they have acts on and food stalls and a bar. During pride August 2019 we saw a few acts including LuLu and the women from Liberty X, such a good atmosphere. The park also has a Memorial statue of Alan Turing, a memorial for victims of HIV and a carved memorial for transgender people who have lost their lives. When there are no events it’s a nice peaceful space!

When on a visit this Sunday. Very clean and the gardens and plants were nice. The glasshouse and observatory were being done up and will be lovely when finished. A boating lake with cafe was very busy and I noticed a lot of statues of local people in this park. Definitely worth a visit.

Magical place: think fairyland, story books and Alice in Wonderland. Owner Kevin had a dream of how he wanted this unique place to be - and he achieved it. Offered and made a brew as soon as we arrived, serenaded by banjo by the owner. Beautiful plants - some unusual varieties - amid a million eye-opening oddities. It wasn't like a garden-centre experience, nor a shopping trip - more like a visit to old friends, even though I'd never been here before. If you love Bent's, you might dislike this place. Me? I thought I was in gardeners' heaven. Sister Barbara also loved it. P.S. They have a 'security' dog - small thing called Rascal. It met us at the car park and, alone, escorted us in through the gates. Honestly! How did it know how to do that? P.P.S. Managed to buy a lot of plants, too.

We visit here quite often. it's a lovely park to walk your dog's. There is plenty of open field and nice wooded areas to explore, a few free parking spaces to the right as you go through the entrance, a big pond, seating benches, etc. We and our dogs love it here.
