Never shot a rifle before in my life but, as history enthusiasts, my other half and I really wanted to try the historical rifle shooting day. We ended up also booking the Sniper Day a couple of days before, in order to just get our eye in and make sure we knew which end of the gun to hold, that kind of thing. Andrew and Helena couldn't have been more welcoming and our visits here were easily the highlight of our entire holiday to Wales. Each day had a group of six people plus two instructors. On the Sniper Day, two of the party were women and on the historical rifle day I was the only woman, but it never felt macho or intimidating - everybody was really friendly and encouraging. One of the guys on the historical rifle day was back for his third visit, and I thought it was a good sign that they have regulars and return clients. Obviously there is a strict safety protocol but I was also surprised how much fun both days were. There was a lot of laughing and good-natured competition. Both days involved shooting at 100m, then 200m, then 850m. Before we went, I thought I'd be happy to just hit anything at any distance, but when I finished the second day by hitting a target at 850m with a WW2 Mosin Nagant rifle with open sights, I felt like I'd achieved a lifetime ambition that I never even realised I'd had. The WMS set-up is fantastic - really professional attitude and a real focus on giving all clients regardless of their background a great shootinxg experience. Helena was fantastic during the entire booking experience, answering my many emails with patience. Andrew and the other instructors Neil and Mark were knowledgeable and interesting and I learned a lot more than just how to point a rifle and hit a target. There are also lots of nice little touches like a steady supply of tea throughout the day, cake afterwards, certificates at the end which list all the rifles you shot, it's a really complete experience. If you're thinking of doing this but you aren't sure because you haven't ever shot before, do yourself a favour and go, it's a lot of fun and I bet you end up surprising yourself.

At Jackie Barber Ceramics/Brynifor Pottery, Pottery Wheel Throwing Sessions run twice a day from 10.30am and again in the afternoon at 2pm. The session lasts approx. 2hrs and includes all the clay and use of tools and wheel plus the firing of one finished piece. At the end of the session you will have made several pots and if you decide to keep more than one this can be arranged for a small fee. The session is often done as a couple taking it in turns to throw on the wheel and makes for an enjoyable fun morning/afternoon. We will cover all the ways of preparing clay, learning to centre the clay and then throwing cylinders to achieve pots with even thickness walls, the key to moving on to tackle different shapes and forms and lastly wiring the pots off the wheel. I will provide Apron /Towel and Tea /Coffee. Max 2 guests per session The cost is £30 per person.

Helpful without stifling your own creativity . Every week we have a new project which can be challenging and stretch your skills to a point of insanity (in a good way) then the following week the task is so friendly to all or some of the students I dont want the class to finish...classes are made up of all skill levels...

At Ultimate Xscape Aberystwyth, you must use a variety of skills to unlock your escape. You and your team have 60 minutes to work your way through the clues, crack the code and save yourself from being locked away forever (we’re only kidding, we'll let you out… eventually!). It’s great fun for friends, family, work colleagues and more, so grab your thinking caps and try to defeat our Xscape Rooms
We booked a couple of days before and the booking process was easy and fast. We arrived and checked in and after a short wait were taken through. We did the Room 13 escape experience and both rooms have a system where you can chose a the number of clues and hints depending on your level of experience. We chose level 2 which is a max of 5 clues and a few extra hints along the way. We managed to escape with about 15 mins to go and had a good chat with our escape master afterwards. Everyone was in masks and there was plenty of hand sanitiser available to keep your hands clean. All in all it was a fun way to spend an hour and I’d recommend it if you’re visiting Aberystwyth!
