An open air market in the heart of Wellington, Prince Edward County. Enjoy the shore of Lake Ontario while shopping for locally grown and made goods. Open every Saturday from May long-weekend until Thanksgiving long-weekend from 8am to 1pm. A perfect setting for families, we are located right next to the popular Wellington park, a great place for kids to play while parents shop.
Both my wife and I shop at The Farmer's Market throughout the summer. Great local produce and located about 10 minutes walk from our home. All of the products sold here are from Prince Edward County and are local grown by our own farmers that we know and communicate with. The Wellington Farmer's Market is set up right in the Wellington United Church's parking lot which overlooks onto some beautiful grounds right on Lake Ontario. New products are introduced weekly and there is quite a selection of goods that one can sample from the many stalls located in this market. Great food and freshly grown right from the garden and delivered fresh to this spectacular market. This is a must to see and try along with the other interesting things that also transpire in the park adjacent to it. Parking is adequate and you get to meet the farmer who not only grows the product but sells it at this awesome market.

By Chadsey's Cairns winery is located on a 200-year-old farm settled by James and Maria Chadsey in 1809. Fruit has been grown on the property from its earliest days, apples, later cherries and raspberries and now grapes. Entering the property you park beside the pioneer cemetery and walk back in time to the Apple House (circa 1855) Tasting Room and wine store located behind four magnificent barns that overlook Lake Ontario.Mature maples and lilacs border the Apple House vineyard and you can enjoy the bucolic splendour sampling your wine on the deck nestled into the vineyard.Eight different vinifera wines are grown here. Some of the first planted in the County, and most of them representing the first commercial offerings of fine wines from PEC in 2002 and 2003.You can rent the 5 bedroom farmhouse beside the winery any time of the year and use it as your base to explore "the County". Full descriptions of the hundred-year-old house, with rates and occupancy calendars can be accessed through the By Chadsey's Cairns facebook page.No matter the time of year there are reasons to visit the location, for Maple in the County, Countylicious, Terroir, TASTE, the Jazz Festival, Studio Touring, Pumpkinfest, Wassail or chilling in the Christmas holidays and winter solstice. Picking parties at By Chadsey's Cairns are a great way to spend an October Saturday.Vida and Richard also host concerts in the barn for their customers and friends, barn dances, readings etc.
Visited Chadsey's in July and completely fell in love with the place. It's not only quaint and charming but the wines are great. We were lucky to come in the morning and meet the owner who was absolutely delightful to talk to. We got to know the story behind the Winery and tasted almost everything on the menu. Great experience indeed. A must visit when in Prince Edward County.

My husband and I had a wonderful night. We had a wine tasting provided by Laurie Ann, who was really knowledgeable about the history of the winery and the wine varietals! It was really fun and we’re looking forward to going back to Karlo Estates again this summer :)

The Armstrong Glassworks is located in the beautiful village of Wellington along the shores of Lake Ontario. The Glassworks is housed in a former Feed Mill dating back to the early 1900’s. As of January 2008, our viewing area will allow visitors to watch Mark if he is blowing glass. Please call ahead to check Mark’s schedule. Demonstrations for groups of 10 or more can be arranged.
Only open for two hours a day, this studio had an amazing display of innovative glass creations. We were dazzled not only by the creativity in form but also the interesting techniques used to create texture and colour in the glass. The artist/owner was a great conversationalist and we learned so much from his fascinating explanations and stories. The conversation itself was well worth the trip, but you'll find you cannot leave without at least one of his unique creations.

Great time @ Traynor Winery. It is a very small family operation. Trays of grapes were drying in the tasting room. The young server was SO knowledgeable and just a delight. It was late in the season and he was doing a couple of jobs at once. We were the only ones there and he gave us special attention. Prices were prominently displayed and we were able to share a tasting - 3 wines for only $5. The pours were very generous! He asked us what we liked and recommended 3 wines then served from the light white through the heavier reds just the way it should be done. He also gave a running commentary. I was totally impressed with our experience at Traynor.
