Saltash is a town and civil parish in southeast Cornwall, England, UK. It has a population of 16,184 at the 2011 census. It lies in the south east of Cornwall, facing Plymouth over the River Tamar. It was in the Caradon district until March 2009 and is known as "the Gateway to Cornwall". Saltash means ash tree by the salt mill. Saltash is best known for the I.K Brunel Railway Overpass Bridge, a towering 134-foot bridge, constructed in 1854, which frequently transports trains over the River Tamar.

A newly opened visitor centre on the Devon side of the River Tamar is definitely worth a visit. Staffed by enthusiastic volunteers provides a wealth of information and history of both the railway and road bridges.

Established in 1995, Stax Reclamation Ltd continues to be a family run business founded by Mr Stephen Meyrick. A long standing family tradition, his Great Grandfather Mr Herbert Perry owned a reclamation yard under the name H. Perry post WWII from 1948 to the mid-1960s. Salvage at its heart, the business has evolved over the years with its core principles remaining strong – old and new are the best of friends. Far from seeing items thrown away, the ethos at Stax is that everything can be saved. Providing the local area with salvaged building materials enabling them to restore and revive their period homes and gardens with pieces of the relevant time, or furnish them with the weird and wonderful range of antiques in stock. Free parking, well worth at least an hour to explore the quayside, small park, to admire the two bridges, local sculptures and to watch the local fishing boats. Information boards fill in the gaps, this is an historic place to visit.

Great pub if you want a nice night with good music and if you want no thrills and your not hungry and the beer is good as well and thats what I call the best pub in england
