Cooper Vineyards is one of the best vineyards in Amador County, and their patriarch, Dick Cooper is famous in the area for his amazing grapes. This is a family-owned and operated place and it is likely you will run into someone from the Cooper family during your tasting. Their Italian and Rhone style wines are absolutely delicious, and their Dicembre port-style dessert wine is one of our favorites. They have great wines for every price range - if you want a real treat, splurge on the Sangiobello or Anniversary. Cooper also gives back to the community with lots of charity events and their wine club events are some of the most popular in the area.

We came down highway 88 from South Lake Tahoe for a day of wine tasting. This place is just to the south of the round-a-bout on Hwy. 49. Julie, our wine server, was full of good conversation and a wealth of information (with maps) to plot out our day. The business represents a number of excellent wineries that do not have their own tasting rooms. This is a nice place to start the day in a little known CA wine region.

Historical winery, farm museum on site.
Excellent wine selection. We visited on a Monday, if you have a chance it's a great day to visit. Lack of crowds, and time to enjoy the wine tasting without distractions. We happened to visit at the same time as new friends we met at our Inn so we were comparing notes. This was our first time at Sobon, but it won't be our last.

If you're a fan of Rhone, then this is the winery to visit.
Went wine tasting with my wife. They have done an excellent job adhering to the Covid 19 restrictions. Joe did a great job explaining the wines. Very personable and professional. The location is beautiful and the wines are very good.

With one of the best views in Amador's Shenandoah Valley, Iron Hub Winery specializes in premium white and red wines. Winemaker Tom Jones recently launched his new winery called Iron Hub that reflects a new chapter in his 30-year career as an award-winning winemaker. Nestled on a hilltop with one of the prettiest view in Shenandoah Valley, Iron Hub Winery, was previously the Amador Foothill Winery site from 1980 through 2015. Visit our winery to chat with new owners, take in the panoramic Sierra view, and enjoy the new tasting room with a beautiful hilltop location. We also offer an array of gourmet picnic items that pair perfectly with our wines and our picnic area offers picturesque vineyard views of the surrounding wine country. Tasting Room Hours: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday 11AM to 5PM
We found this place by accident and it was a great fine by accident, happy we did. They have the best view in Amador Wine Country and their wines are great as well. We got to taste all of their wines, not in one visit but several visits. You will feel as your in a different state, it takes your mind of your stressful week. We love going to Iron Hub Winery because of the wine, view, and staff. If your on a wine tour make sure you add Iron Hub Winery to your list and make it your last stop. As they say, "save the best for last".

Hand Selected Vineyards, Award Winning Wines Jeff travels throughout California to find just the right grapes for his vineyard designated wines. The winery produces 22 different red varietals from 9 appellations. We produce balanced wines that can be enjoyed in their youth, but will also age and become more complex with time. Our wines share a theme of fresh fruit reflective of the varietal flavors inherent in the grape.
Dog lover’s review: Set in a modern rustic building right off the main road. Parking is plentiful and easy. The wine is pretty good and you get quite a few tastings of both whites and reds for free with a small cheese and bread plate included. It was definitely worth the stop. We bought their Cabernet Franc for $26. The place was very dog friendly, even to our pitbull. There were three other dogs there while we were tasting and all were welcome. The place was very popular and crowded. However, they managed the pouring pace very well.

Signature wines are Zinfandel (5 separate bottlings), Port (8 separate bottlings), and Sparkling (8 separate bottlings).
My wife and I had visited Deaver Vineyards Winery back in 2015, and if you look you will find an older review posted (unless TripAdvisor has removed it or lost it). We find it impossible to still objectively taste the wines if we visit more than three wineries in a day, and our preference is to only visit two in a day. As a result, even when we like a winery, it can take us a while to revisit it. Many of the things that were written several years ago remain true. There are just a few things to update and add. The thing we enjoyed the most about our visit was tasting a variety of ports. Unfortunately the variety of port that we liked the most in our previous visit was sold out, but there were several others that we enjoyed and bought bottles of. We also bought some bottles of their red wine blend, and of the old vine Zinfandel. When we visited previously, there seemed to be many more Zin options than on this visit. We also enjoyed having a picnic outside at a shaded table overlooking the pond. It would have been an even more pleasant experience had they not been mowing the lawn, which detracted from an otherwise serene setting. Just seems poor planning to mow on a Friday. I would certainly expect fewer visitors on a Monday or Tuesday. Ideally, your timing will be better than ours in this regard. The other comment I will make is that I have been to the Port Institute in Lisbon, and have sampled ports there. It is a place that is very serious about port. I don't know who at Deaver thought the port glasses with the "straw" were a cute idea. It reminded me of too many commercials for failed products that appear on television, the ones with the "but wait, if you order now we'll send you two. Just pay additional shipping and handling." Yes, those types of items. The next time I visit I will forego the souvenir glass, and ask for port to be poured into a more normal glass. Certainly worth a visit, and in another few years, we will probably return. Perhaps I will call in advance to see if they have the Merlot-based port, and when they will be mowing the lawn. :-))
