This sacred place combines the beauty of the surrounding nature with the warm and welcoming atmosphere of one of the biggest monasteries in Bulgaria. It is free to enter and have a walk in the yard and the church. However, the small museum has a ticket. There are a lot of kiosks around offering everything from traditional Bulgarian dishes to BBQ for lunch, local dairy products, jam, nuts and even corn. Bear in mind, that the prices are little higher than usual, but the traders are open to discounts. A great idea for a family day trip - just 30 minutes away from Plovdiv. It is easy to reach by car and offers paid parking on site.

Lovely frescoes at the entrance welcome one to the grand place of worship. Contributing to the grand facade, in addition to the elegant and ornate white tower belfry. Richly embellished, the interior is striking. A marvellous iconastasis is the divider between the between the priest and congregation. Gilt and paintings make it an awe inspiring sight. Predominantly in a dark azure hue, the lined ceiling has some holy images and impressive suspended lighting.

White River Eco Trail

Reviewed By GR_Family_Plus_3 - Petah Tiqwa, Israel

The eco trail itself starts 15 minutes walking to the side of the river from the place where you can leave your car. For your attention, the road to this place is quite challenging, but still passable for regular car. The eco trail is very well marked, including easy walks, ladders and steps (somewhere steep), but not dangerous, and absolutely worth the view. But because of the ladders, I guess it now suitable for trolleys and disabled people. The eco trail has some classrooms along it, some in Bulgarian only, some in English. Definitely, come to see at the last point the picture of the dangerous predator on Earth. In sunny summer day you can even enter the river. We were there in the beginning of October, so the water was very cold already. Great easy walk - nice for all the family.

Situated on the peak of a rather steep hill, the stone Russian soldier is an official WW2 monument. There has been a monumental statue of some kind here since antiquity (which in Plovdiv goes back eight thousand years). The park leading up to the monument is especially lovely in spring. If you go there by car you can leave your car for free (one hour) in the multi-storey underground parking of the nearby shopping mall (Markovo Tepe).

It’s one of the best places in Plovdiv . Great decoration, beautiful music choices , very good coffee. It’s not very crowded so it’s rather quiet. The girl that prepared my coffee (it’s a self-service place btw) was extra polite and could speak some English. I totally recommend it!!

Park Tsar Simeon

Reviewed By krizis78 - Plovdiv, Bulgaria

After a complete overhaul a few years ago, this place has become a top destination for me. I remember it from my childhood years because of the singing fountains. It's even better now! I recommend every tourist to go there. Suitable for fasting both during the day and in the evening. There are plenty of playgrounds and alleys, benches and a lovely shade ... fountains where gorgeous children can get wet and play with water; singing fountains and eating establishments and cocktails. It's wonderful!
