The motto of the resort town of Ogunquit, Maine, is "beautiful place by the sea," and with three and a half miles of sheltered white sand beaches, the residents are definitely not lying. Take a walk along the Marginal Way, a path that winds along rocky cliffs overlooking the ocean, or explore the town center on the local public transit - an old fashioned trolley. With art galleries, fresh seafood, and the summer stock Ogunquit Playhouse, the town of Ogunquit is a favorite vacation destination.

A scenic 1.5 mile oceanside cliffwalk.
A gorgeous seaside walk on a well paved path that twists and turns its way from Beach Street to end in the picturesque village of Perkins Cove, perhaps one of the prettiest hamlets in Southern Maine. Tiny shops and restaurants wind their way around this small village, each on begging to be explored. Enjoy a succulent lobster roll at one of the dozen restuaranta and watch the boats glide into the cove. Cross the white drawbridge and enjoy the view. Then make your way back onto Marginal Way to enjoy the ocean vistas. A perfect Maine day!

This is a very unique library. It is not a town library, but it is the only library in Ogunquit. It is a privately funded library which is supported by endowments and contributions. The library is in a beautiful stone building (with a great stone fire place ). Mrs Conarroe had the original part of the library built for the town in 1897 to commemorate her husband. The Conarroes, who were from Philadelphia, spent their summers in Ogunquit and loved the town. The library was enlarged in 1914. The inside is charming and quaint -- a real treat for library lovers or anybody who appreciates historical buildings.

Lots of nice handcrafted items - carved wood jewelry boxes and cribbage boards, jewelry, tabletop items, art, lamps, greeting cards & calendars, etc. Good range of prices. Friendly, helpful service.
