The Cheese Lady in Muskegon has a wonderful selection of cheeses, wines, and the accessories to present, serve, and enjoy them. The staff is well informed and helpful. COVID-19 safety procedures are closely followed and give a true sense of safe shopping. The prices are very good for a HUGE variety of excellent cheeses. It is definitely worth the stop!

Art Cats Gallery, A West Michigan Gallery: All Hand Made All the Time! We love West Michigan and our location in the Historic and Eclectic Lakeside District of Muskegon on the shore of Muskegon Lake! Art Cats Gallery carries a fabulous selection of original paintings, prints, pottery, glass, and an amazing array of artist made jewelry. Adjacent to the studio of owner Louise Hopson.

This is our favorite beach. Lots of parking, clean with decent bathrooms. The beach area is huge, so even when there are tons of people, you dont feel super crowded. They also have a concession stand with ice cream, hot dogs etc. Along with rentals for water gear.

Clean area, felt very safe. There is limited parking at the Beach side park (50 cars) (Not suitable for larger RVs and large trucks). If you are using the beach area, it is sandy and water shoes work the best or old tennis shoes. The boardwalk is handicap accessible and stairs to the beach. Great for getting your stroller and little one to the beach, , , but stroller not usable on sandy beach. When on the beach it states no Dogs to the Left and Dogs on leash to the Right. We went to the right and felt just fine taking our dog off leash as everyone else had their dogs off of leash, although there is more than one sign that states" dog on leash only" . All the dogs enjoyed the waves, running after balls, frizbees and just being free. . There was about a 12 foot sandy beach area to walk with the lake on one side and Dunes that went up high on the other side. We could see a big board walk up on the dunes. . The dog run beach is about 1 mile long and meets up to a another park with signs stating "No Dogs", so we turned around and went back. Another parking area in the park to the S. of the dog beach takes you to a rent-able pavilion, flush restrooms, great playscape for young children, with lots of parking. (no access to beach here). The parking area between the two different sections of this park is maybe a 1/4 mile. We had a great time at the playscape and used both the beach area and the play-cape area more than once when we were camping at the State Park.

This park is on the White Lake channel to Lake Michigan so you can watch boats going out to the big lake, walk to the old lighthouse or just chill on the beach nearby. There are bathrooms as well. Bonus, it's dog-friendly!

We are one of the largest Farmers Market in Michigan featuring fresh produce, crafts and fine arts, Kids Power of Produce Club, teaching kitchen, entertainment and more.
Because of Covid, arrive early as this market gets crowded! The staff was great as they controlled the flow of shoppers. Everyone was masked for safety. There was a good selection of perennials, shrubs and flowers for sale at very fair and often inexpensive prices. We purchased fresh berries, cherries, wonderful breads and scones. We also purchased a variety of masks for our kids and grand children. The vegetables looked wonderful. There are a variety of crafts available for purchase too. Everyone was nice and welcoming. This is definitely worth a weekend visit.

I visited both of the South Pierhead Lighthouse and the South Breakwater light during my stay in Muskegon in early October 2020. I visited the South Breakwater light first and due to the off season (and possible covid-19) there was barely anyone on the beaches or at the light houses, which was ideal for me. The South Breakwater light is about a mile round trip and gives you beautiful views of Lake Michigan and of the other light houses surrounding the area. The breakwater light itself is a very interesting sight, but there are no rails on the concrete pad where it sits and when wet it can become slippery so be careful when visiting. The South Pierhead Lighthouse was much easier to get to and just as interesting although between the two the breakwater light was more fun to visit. I definitely recommend visiting both in the early morning to avoid a rush of people if you want to get good pictures.
