Magical, historic, cultural, intimate – these are but a few of the words that best describe the balmy and magical escape that is Manzanillo on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. A lush, tropical environment welcomes travelers – verdant hillsides make way for sandy beaches, a setting that just begs for outdoor adventures and lazy days by the ocean. Visit between December and April and you’re likely to glimpse one of the playful whales swimming in Manzanillo Bay. By night, the village is full of energetic nightlife and restaurants are full to the brim. It’s all the charm of old world Mexico with every 21-century creature comforts you could want. While the crashing Pacific surf is sure to capture your attention for much of your time in Manzanillo, be sure to check out the countless other outdoor pursuits. Take an ATV off-road adventure, go deep-sea or sportfishing, head out hiking on an eco tour or take to the sea by kayak. Go sailing, snorkeling, SCUBA diving and surfing, then head back to shore for some shopping. Lace up your tennies for a volcano or waterfall tour.

A long stretch of beach, directly across the highway from Club Maeva.
Went here three times on our holidays, fantastic beach to walk and swim. Plenty of options to stop for a rest, drink food etc. Not busy like Puerto Vallarta. Various places have happy hour drinks.

These dramatic hilly slopes are home to Las Hadas, known as a "fantasy land."
This overlook was part of a cruise ship excursion. Very picturesque......made one wish to see more of that beach and resort. Wish we could have gone into the resort: from the outside it looked very nice with the all white buildings.

Boardwalk offering scenic views of the town and the ocean.
This is a nice walking area along the bay. There are several park like areas with benches. There are a numbers of statues which make for great photo ops. This area overlooked the marina with is picturesque and that is not counting all of the flowers. There are also shops and places to get something to eat along the walkway.

One of two major bays situated directly north of the city.
The northwest bay stretch of beach in Manzanillo is the best for walking, especially as you near the most northwest end at Club Santiago. There it is easy to enter the water which is very clear. Lots and lots of beach club options along the the entire 5km stretch. An especially nice one is the Oasis Ocean Club nearer the Club Santiago area. A great way to spend your day at the beach.

One of several popular beaches.
The beach had some huge breakers at low tide but it was easy to walk along the beach any time from high to low tide, The sand was not course and did not have many rocks or debris.

Nice to see the iguanas and a few other kinds of animals too. Maybe not the neatest kept, but you can see they are taking care and providing decent habitat to keep them safe and happy. Thank you!

This is a beautiful public beach with miles of clean golden sand to walk on. You can walk along this beach all the way to Playa Miramar. There are umbrellas and chairs to rent for 180 pesos and numerous restaurants to enjoy. The seafood is fresh and delicious and the beer is cold and reasonably priced. You can bring your own drinks and food if you wish and use your own umbrella and chairs. The water is very warm with gentle waves. Excellent for swimming. Sandy bottom for most of the beach with more rocks the farther west you go. There are sting rays in the water so be careful not to surprise them. The beach vendors are very friendly and respectful of your beach time. Great place to go with kids. Went back four times during our stay. Can be reached by local bus and taxis.
