Fantastic spot for the kids to cool off. Has a waterslide and different pools to swim in with shallow pool for smaller kids. Nice grassy areas to sit by the pool. Facilities are clean too.

Get out and explore this great region along the Bluewater Trail. Take a leisurely stroll or scenic bike ride along the award winning shared pathway whilst taking in much of the region's natural beauty.Six of the region's key attractions sit along the trail including the beautiful Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens, the Sandfly Creek Environmental Walkway, the Catherine Freeman walk, the free three-tiered Bluewater Lagoon aquatic facility, Bluewater Quay (with barbecue facilities) and Iluka Park (all abilities playground).Get active and enjoy the 'ring of activity' which boasts pedestrian and bicycle pathways, raised boardwalks, environmental areas, disabled access and activities for children and young people.Winner of the 2010 National Heart Foundation Local Government Award.
Time did not permit for me to enjoy the full circuit of roughly twenty kilometres of shared pathway which circles around Mackay. The circuit was designed for cyclists and pedestrians to discover the main attractions like the Bluewater Lagoon, Bluewater Quay, Sandfly Creek Environmental Reserve, Iluka Park, Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens and the Catherine Freeman walk, keep an eye out for six interesting outdoor public art installations along the way. I enjoyed the stretch from the Bluewater Lagoon around to Sandfly Creek Environmental Reserve and discovered four art sculptures, my personal favourite being the 'Mangrove Cap'.

Great food and plenty of variety to shop and be entertained. Plenty of parking and under cover. Two levels with just about all the shops you would wish for. Big water park next door for the kids.

Big On Shoes is well worth the visit if you are town, stocking a large range of shoes, clothing, accessories, artwork and homewares. If you love the unique side of fashion, you will love Big On Shoes. Stocking brands such as Rare Rabbit, Betty Basics, Frankie 4, Bueno, Holiday Trading Co and Empire Of Bees. Stocking ladies shoes sizes 5-15. Be sure to go for a walk around the Mackay City Centre and pop into Big On Shoes for a little "you time".

Fabulous flat beach for walking, especially at low tide. Off leash dog beach area, with generally well behaved dogs. Not crowded but people you meet are generally happy to chat!

Plenty of great spots along the Pioneer River to stop and enjoy its beauty - stunningly blue and well worth the effort to enjoy as a family. A must do in my opinion.

We were really surprised at how lovely this spot is. Long beach with great picnic spots along the way. Lambert's Lookout provides spectacular views and we were lucky enough to see a whale breach while looking through the telescope provided for the public. Highly recommend a visit.
