Ada Chikan

Ada conceptualized the art of chikankari on a different, albeit traditional platform. Ada brought together the finest artisans who were otherwise getting drawn to other professions, to craft breathtaking chikankari designs on finest fabrics, which became a delightful appreciation for the cognoscente. Vision: Ada took their customer’s chikankari experience to newer heights by transforming its retail outlet to a sprawling showroom decorated in a real-time Lucknawi ambiance, complementing their large collection of chikankari designer wear. Ada opened its windows to the world through an online store not only to diversify into myriad cultures but also to educate people about this art 'Chikankari' which is only manufactured in Lucknow and not replicated worldwide. Mission: Ada’s aim as a company is to deliver this handicraft globally at Lucknawi prices at everyone’s doorstep while ensuring they get an opportunity to enjoy the complete experience of Lucknawi Chikankari.

Sugandhco

It was in 1850's when Mr. Chhunnamal Vijayvergiya took the initiative of starting a perfumery business, that would reach the masses. This initiative took its modern shape in 1980 and SUGANDHCO was born. The main aim was to serve by spreading the fragrance all over. SUGANDHCO combined traditional knowledge and modern trends giving a new dimension to the world of perfumery. The fragrances, thus created, were of high standards and quality. SUGANDHCO also introduced many new and innovative fragrance concepts like Cooler Perfumes, Floor Fragrance etc. The consumers of SUGANDHCO's fragrant specialties and it's admirers are spread all over the globe. Member of professional bodies like: EPCH | FAFAI | EOAI | CHEMEXCIL | AIAMA | ACOC etc.

Sugandhco is ideally one of India's oldest-living traditional perfumeries upholding the world's pioneering perfumery tradition. Truly admirable is their versatility that spans all the 3 major perfumery traditions of the world-Indian, Arabian and French. Sugandhco's Arabesque scents in particular form a magnificent selection of tightly permutated formulations that spring surprises at every turn and bring a smile to the fragrance aficionado's face. 'Oud Badastur' with its animalic, musky, woody oud tonality took me back to the Khaleej-the Gulf States with their quaint old alleyways, the Bedoiun serenades and the old dhows sailing gently across Dubai Creek. While the warming and energetic 'Hina' and 'Musk Amber' resurrect the Nawabs of old, oud innovations like 'Mukhallat' , 'Hasrat e Oudh' and 'Jashn e Oudh' to name a few, make magic with musk, pour passion into patchouli and awe me with amber. A refreshing dab of 'Yaquet' or for instance, 'Nafasat' on the back of your hand would rejuvinate you with not just the amazing sillage of enchanting notes but even the longevity on skin or on fabric. PS-Do not miss the drydowns of any of these scents! There is invariably, always a little surprise awaiting you there! A certain note that emerges out of the blue as you exclaim 'wah! kya baat hai'! Mr.Vishwas Vijayvergiya, the knowledgeable and friendly upholder of this renowned tradition enlightened me about each of his masterpieces in thorough detail.

La Martiniere College

Reviewed By daun065 - London, United Kingdom

I have only seen photographs of La Martiniere, the college my father attended in 1934 so it was with great pride that my trip to Lucknow enabled me to have an insight into his school days. I have to agree with all the other reviewers that it's certainly a place to visit with its impressive architecture and military history. We were lucky enough to meet up with the Bursar and Principal who graciously spent time going through past records. A wonderful experience.
