Museography of the Niebla Castle Site Museum, National Monument. Managed by the National Cultural Heritage Service, its entry is completely free. A must with the history of the South Pacific and international trade routes during the 18th century

Amazing how the water of the river gets up by the side of the park so you can enjoy both of the atracctions of the city at once, it's also close to the center of the city and it's free (you can give a tip for the care of the park, and i really recommend to do it if you can for all of the beauty of the place)

On the road south of Achao, and past the spectacular mirador (look out), is the town of Quinchao. This tiny village with a very beautiful waterfront contains this most impressive church. From the outside you can imagine the woodworkers building this structure with care and love. Once you step inside however, you are initially overwhelmed by the size and the work that has been performed. Look up to take in the boat builder style vaulted ceiling. It is truly a stunning structure especially because of it's location. Learning just a little of the history you find that on December 8 all of the villages around the area come here to pray. And one can understand why. Enjoy the drive here, be amazed at this World Heritage site and savor this building initially contructed at the end of the 18th century. You won't regret it. I was there on a Monday around 11:30 am and it was open to the public. Donations are welcomed.

A very colourful market with lots of vegetables and fish on sale that I have never seen before.Detritus is thrown to the lions(of the sea variety) who luxuriate on adjacent pontoons.

The Cultural center is a cluster of pretty buildings with a sun filled cafe, interesting exhibits of the local area & history. Unfortunately nothing on the science of the lake & efforts to protect the environment. The gift shop is part of a local women’s cooperative and has some of the nicest textiles & pottery we have seen in Chile. A MUST visit if in the region.
