Tyre

The impressive ruins of a great Phoenician city.

It is one of two archaeological sites in Tyre - smaller one but also beautiful. It is located at the seaside, which gives us a lot of photo opportunities in great scenery. I definitely recommend visiting both archaeological sites, if possible with a guide who can make them alive by telling all the amazing stories about the people who lived and worked in the ancient Tyre.

There are a lot of walking paths, churches and convents of all the religions in the country, picnic spots - a lot to do and see. If you are in Lebanon for a couple of days, it is definitely a must.

Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Saint George

Reviewed By sartzetakise2015 - Thessaloniki, Greece

A beautiful Greek orthodox church with some very nice iconographies on the walls (part of the old ones have survived the destruction of the civil war). The most important part though is the history hidden underneath the church in a well designed museum. Signs of a number of civilizations laid one on top of the other literally. Do mot miss to visit There is a small charge, definitely worth it.
