If you are near Accident (on purpose or on accident- hahahahaha!), stop by Firefly Farms to get yourself the most delicious cheese! We had previously had the Merry Goat Round at a winery and loved it. We were looking forward stopping in their market. They had many choices of cheeses, wine, bread/crackers, meats. You could easily shop for a great charcuterie platter there! The staff was very helpful in recommendations. We've already dipped into the wood-strapped Merry Goat Round (aged 90 days to sweet, soft perfection, almost like a brie) and look forward to enjoying our others. They also had other local merchants' goods, i.e. honey, spreads. We were happy to hear they now have a store in Whitehall Market in Baltimore and look forward to checking that out!

Features local crafts in restored log buildings.
Located on Route 68 among picturesque mountains, the Spruce Forest Artisan Village offers a changing array of artists who work with iron, stained glass, etc.... The stop also offers several country gift shops and a working mill - Stanton's Mill - a great place to buy freshly milled corn grits and buckwheat flour made from local crops.

Grantsville has preserved history, and this is an economic boon to the area. Casselman River Bridge State Park is located near several other historic sites as well as several interesting restaurants. Casselman River Bridge State Park is a 4-acre parcel located east of Grantsville in Garrett County on U.S. Route 40. We recommend a day in this area.

In my wanderings, I decided to visit the museum (and just barely beat a rainstorm!!) What a delight - especially the cars that are privately owned and have been refurbished. Upstairs was local history, including a horrific story about a school bus that stalled on the railroad tracks. I had no idea about that history.

We fell in love w Paul, his wife and Deep Creek Cellars. Not a Chardonnay drinker on any level but we came away purchasing two bottles of a char blend. A char blend? Who makes this? Such an amazing buttery finish and loved that they thought outside the box. Not a Winery for sweet wine lovers but still worth the drive for the scenery and to meet the owners. COVID wise - you’ll need a reservation for car side service.

Was looking for a place to get some souvenirs. Not much was around. Bear Creek was fully stocked with something for everyone. Top line shop and expensive but they seem to be the only place in town. Some items were overpriced. Overall a nice quality shop with nice and friendly staff. Expect to pay some bucks to cover everyone on your shopping list but do stop by.
