The southwestern castle city of Cesky Krumlov is one of the Czech Republic’s finest medieval sites. Its Old Town is a UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site, a maze of twisting alleys built around the extensive Cesky Krumlov castle. Saunter through crooked, cobblestone streets on foot and soak up the atmosphere of this impeccably preserved medieval gem. The gushing Vltava, popular with rafting enthusiasts, darts through the town.

Cesky Krumlov is a huge tourist magnet, which makes things colorful and easy for travelers. Lassoed by its river and dominated by its castle, this enchanting town feel lost in a time warp. At times it can feel like a medieval theme park - but not so much that it entirely tramples the place's charm. It's easy to enjoy strolling the town without ever paying to enter a sight. But it's worth considering the Baroque Theater at the castle and the Bohemian Castle inself, which can be seen only with a reserved tour. When you see in Cesky Krumlov awe-inspiring castle, delightful Old Town of shops and cobbled lanes, characteristic little restaurants, and easy canoeing options, you'll understand why having fun is a slam-dunk here. Most of Cesky Krumlov's modest sights are laced together in this charming self-guided walk from the top of the historic Old Town, down its spine, across the river, and up to the castle. The town and its historical center rich mix of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque building which curve with the winding streets. Step into shops and snoop into back lanes and tiny squares. Take your time to learn, consider, admire and enjoy!!

Our accomodation was clean and adequately comfortable. It was operated by an ice cream merchant which ran their business in the doorway (literally) of the accomodation. We had to squeeze past them to get Into the housing. There was a small garden area above that we enjoyed at night. We could look directly up and see the paintings on the wall of the castle bathed in ambient light. It was heavenly. We were steps away from a tiny crepe merchant with fabulous food. Musicians entertained us on the street. Everywhere we ate was great. Latran is the place to stay in Cesky as you can explore the castle grounds, gardens and shops right out your door. The accommodations may not always be luxurious but they will be extraordinary. Oh how I would love be to go back there again. There’s so much to see!

Nice walk and would nearly describe it off the beaten path. Never met more then a few couples in the park. It is clean and quiet. As well if you are lucky you may get a chance on the outdoor theatre scene.

We enjoyed our stroll through this lovely park. It was autumn when we visited so while not a lot was happening in the flower beds, the trees were quite spectacular. We entered the park near the little church, walked down to the river and followed it along til we came to a bridge that took us over to a long street up a hill and back into the old town. Good views of the old buildings from the river bank. So pretty.

Due to the Covid 19 situation the city has only a few international visitors, most of the tourists we saw and heard spoke Czech. All were enjoying the beauty of this stunning historical city, the castle and the bridges spanning the river, meandering the town. We had a cool, clear day offering the best views.
