The 10 Best Food Tours in Boston, Massachusetts (MA)

February 15, 2022 Ying Subia

Walk the Freedom Trail the first time you visit Boston and you'll quickly get a sense of this coastal city's revolutionary spirit and history. But make sure you also explore some of Boston's fine museums (try the Isabella Stewart Gardner, featuring masterpieces displayed in their collector's mansion) and old neighborhoods (like the North End, Boston's Little Italy). You can't claim to have experienced real Boston culture, though, until you've watched a Red Sox game from the bleachers.

Boston is a city known for its significant role in shaping American history and its contribution during the American Revolution. Alongside this historical significance, Boston has long been known as one of the leaders in the chocolate movement. In fact, the first chocolate shop in the colonies opened in 1740 in the North End of Boston with a "drinking chocolate". And we didn't stop there! Boston takes pride in the creation of several iconic desserts that we'll sample during our chocolate-filled journey through the city!

We do food tours whenever we travel to new cities...great way to be introduced to the local cuisine and history. Our group loved the Boston Baked Beans and brown bread along with the history behind this Boston tradition. The lobster roll and clam chowder were among the best we had during our stay. The stops were fun and interesting with so much history attached. Everyone agreed the Boston Cream Pie was the best ever....and in such a beautiful grand hotel! Alyssa and Maggie, thank you for a wonderful day!

I have been to Boston many times, but this tour was as if I had landed in a completely different city with it’s Italian charm fused together with American history. Our tour guide Bob made the journey especially fun, as well as educational, but he was no match for the mouth-watering food around every corner and alleyway. Here’s to the Red, White and Blue!…as in blew me away. Viva Italia!

Guide was good & knowledgeable of the places we stopped, other restaurants & shops in Jamaica Plain & even gave us history of JP. The tour included 4 stops with sampling. We got a sample of Vegan ice cream (coconut milk based) at FOMU, a Chocolate store, Carrot Flower - where we had a sample of what looks like a chocolate truffle that was very good. It was Dates, walnuts, cocao, vanilla, sugar & a touch of salt. And we finished at an Italian bakery - Fiore's Bakery - we were given a cold truffle which was chocolate covered with a peanut butter inside (made with rice crispys and peanut butter). The disappointing part was the chocolate store - the owner was not there & the 2 women who were did not have any knowledge about how the products are made or the story behind the shop. The guide provided us with more information. WE were told we were going to sample several single origin chocolates (got 1 piece the size of my finger nail), some cocao juice & nuts,
