China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a unitary sovereign state in East Asia and the world's most populous country, with a population of around 1.404 billion. Covering approximately 9,600,000 square kilometers (3,700,000 sq mi), it is the third- or fourth-largest country by total area, depending on the source consulted. China also has the most neighbor countries in the world. Governed by the Communist Party of China, it exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces, five autonomous regions, four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Chongqing), and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau.

Busy animal bazaar just outside Kashgar. They sell and buy all kinds of farm animals (horses, sheep, fat-tailed sheep, goats, camels, cows, yaks). There are also some butchers, where you can buy meat. If you are getting hungry you can get noodles or a kind of meat pie (like samsa) at some food stalls inside and outside the animal stock market. They do not treat their animals very good (depending on the type of animal more or less harsh). So this place might not be a good place to visit for everyone. We took a taxi to get there (we paid 30 CNY; hostel told us the normal price should be less) , but there is also a bus (#23). When you're outside the bazaar, turn left and walk up the road a bit, the bus leaves on the next crossing (300 m). Going back to kashgar you want the one on the bazaar side. I would not recommend to take the bus going there if you don't speak good chinese or uigur, as you cannot see the bazaar from the bus stop. Going back it's a good option, because the bus goes to the city center.

We visited the Hushi Mosque for Friday prayers and after coming out there is a long row of street food vendors on both sides of the road, selling a variety of Muslim Chinese foods. Great for carnivores as they love their lamb :) If intending to go, suggest you have a light breakfast that morning as there is so much to enjoy from dumplings, baozi, noodles and various bbq items.

An excellent place to mix with locals. Impressive selection of all kind of food. There is a stage for performances of dance and music. Very crowded place but safe.

This historic street market on the city's serene south coast is as popular with locals as it is with tourists. Go here for souvenirs like lacquerware, embroidered tablecloths, prints and paintings.
We stumbled on the markets in a visit to the beach on a recent trip. We fell In love with the whole area. On the day we went mid week all was quiet and beautiful. Swimming restaurants etc were excellent. We headed for the markets in the evening and had we known they were as good as they were we would have gone earlier. Great selection of stalls and some lovely art work, Preferred them to Ladies Market. The stall holders themselves were friendly and not too intense. Would highly recommend.
