Our family had a wonderful stay at the Old Miller Trout Farm in October. It is a beautiful location with nature all around. John and Pat made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. We were two couples and one young child and the guest house was large enough for everyone to have some privacy but also visit in the living room and eat together in the kitchen. We shopped at the grocery store a few minutes away and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. My nephew loved looking at the fish and exploring the path through the woods. It was a very comfortable place to be with a child and there were even some toys and videos provided. I highly recommend the Old Miller Trout Farm as a base to explore Cape Breton. It is easy to find and there are lots of activities short drives away, with beautiful scenary along the way.

What an incredibly unique and great little spot. The whole experience was truly remarkable. My boyfriend and I came up for a nice breakfast (we had dietary restrictions - dairy free - which were easily accommodated) and a surreal hike. Love the vibe here with the owner personally coming by to say hello and check on things making our meal a little extra special. Highly recommend taking a day to go for some home cooked food, tasty maple syrup and a beautiful hike. We also came home with some maple syrup, and this is a must :).

We take you back to a simpler time where the oxen are seen working in the fields and the sound of a rooster can be heard around the farm! Experience farming as it was all across Nova Scotia by spending a day here that the whole family will enjoy! For the few hours you spend at Ross Farm you don’t just experience Nova Scotia’s farming history, you live it!
In Oct 2019 we visited Ross Farm Museum, particularly due to its connection with the History Channel's "The Curse of Oak Island" and the numerous visits made to the farm to date objects found on Oak Island. Unfortunately the "go to" person at the Blacksmith Shop was on a lunch break when we arrived. However we spent a lot of time chatting with the barrel maker; very interesting. The entire property - being a living history museum - is very impressive. We took the wagon ride, visited the different buildings, viewed the exhibits when we first entered and overall had an enjoyable few hours. Being autumn, the gardens and fields were dormant but we expected that. It's a definite must-see when you're in the area!!

At Groovy Goat we take pride in handcrafting moisturizing and luxurious soaps and bath products. Our (not so) secret ingredient? Goat milk from the well-loved goats on our family farm. Stop by and say “hi” to the goats and other petting farm animals and be sure visit our shop where our friendly staff can help you find the perfect bath product!
Very friendly lovely little shop, bought lip balm, soaps and vanilla lotion. Love all products! Soap is very smooth and fragrance is very light. Bonus at shop is to watch the antics of some silly goats playing. Highly recommend stopping at this quaint business place n the trail!
