In Central Istria, on its red soil, with sea salt in the air, olive trees have been lovingly grown, and top-quality extra-virgin olive oil has been carefully produced by many generations of the Vošten family.
Highly recommend if you are interested in doing olive oil tasting. This is a small production so it's not as highly advertised as Chiavalon (it is very good as well). However, they definitely have quality olive oil and it's always fun to taste with the owner. Roberto is a super friendly guy. We came one morning and he opened the shop for us (it's low season when we visited). We tried 3 different olive oils and bought 2 gift sets. Prices were very reasonable. Roberto was a friendly and chatty person and offered us more tastings to other liquors and wines. All produced by them. He even toasted and drank with us - a sight you never see in California when you taste in the wine country. Before we left, Roberto even gifted me a couple of lavender sachets and a small lavender oil bottle. Super sweet man. Seriously, we highly recommend this place. And Roberto does not charge for tasting.

This open market is the busiest, loudest and the most colourful spot in town. With the smells of fruit and buzz of customers and sellers, it perfectly captures the spirit of the town. It has quality home-grown products for everyone - from vegetarians and macrobiotics fans to meat lovers.

We are a family apiculture from Mimice. At our little honey shop, you can taste and buy local honey and other bee products. We strongly recommend honey from flowers of sage, rosemary and lavander!

I have to walk through this amazing, active, crowded and iconic market many a times during my three days stay at Zagreb as the hotel where I was staying is located in one of the lanes nearby. It's just behind main square, at a raised platform, connected with series of steps. It's enjoyable to see the farmers from all over, assembling in the morning offering fresh and variety of fruits, vegetables, greens, herbs, cheese, honey, handmade soaps, wooden toys and the products of daily use for one and all. The beautiful and aesthetically designed sculptures here and there at this place add beauty to this sprawling open market. There are plenty of small cafes with old style stools and umbrellas offering early walkers freshly brewed tea, cookies and biscuits. There is separate covered market at a corner Ribarnica with fresh fish. There is an underground for butchers selling meat and related products. Best place to witness day to day life of locals and mingle with friendly strangers. It's amazing to observe that by 5 pm in the evening everyday the place become empty, clean, swept nicely.

A small family firm located at the heart of Istria, only a kilometre from the main Pula - Pazin road surrounded by pastures, at the hill above the village of Orbanići has been producing high quality dairy products based on its own cows' milk since the end of the last century and other farmers' milk from all over Istria for the last ten years. Following the trends in the dairy production the dairy has been investing a great deal in its development and growth, although the base remains constantly the same, that is, tradition, nature and family.
