When you think “adventure travel” you probably think of far-flung places like Belize and Alaska—not Wisconsin. But if you’re an outdoor adventurer, you’ll find plenty of places to explore in Wisconsin. A vacation in Wisconsin can put you close to the Kettle Moraine State Forest, which has excellent biking trails. Or choose Wisconsin’s Apostle Islands—kayakers will love exploring Lake Superior’s many caves and shipwrecks.
Packers fans don’t wear those cheese-wedge hats for nothing! Foodies will love tasting as many of Wisconsin’s artisanal cheeses as possible. Either drive from cheesemaker to cheesemaker, or choose a Wisconsin vacation in a town with a good farmers’ market—then the cheesemakers bring their wares to you. And what goes better with artisanal cheese than craft beer? In Milwaukee, visit the Lakefront and Sprecher Breweries for tours and tastings.
Wisconsin Dells is a classic family vacation destination. A vacation in Wisconsin Dells will put you close to all the excitement—you’ll have to tear the kids away from the theme parks, wave pools and water parks in Wisconsin Dells!
Lake Geneva boasts clean beaches, golf, and a small-town feel that definitely appeals to city dwellers—it’s a popular getaway for residents of Chicago.

Springside Cheese is a Wisconsin cheese manufacturer of traditional and flavored artisan cheeses since 1908 and family owed for over 40 years.
Was in Michigan's upper peninsula to see Fall colors and decided to take a day trip to Wisconsin. First stop, get cheese! This little shop was the perfect stop. After the girls behind the counter schooled us in their cheese, samples included, they also offered us some other local recommendations for other places to see. The other customers even chimed in and one very helpful man offered to guide us through town, handmade map included! Everyone was so sweet and the cheese was delicious!

We make it a point to stop in Westby if we're heading to the Twin Cities via Route 14. We've bought butter, cheese curds, and the like (I always carry a cooler so they travel okay). Also, we heard they're putting up a storage bin shaped like a tub of cottage cheese, which has won awards. Well, last week we bought some cottage cheese just to see what all the fuss was about. It's the best I've ever had. I can see why it's praised so highly. If you go through Westby, hit the charming little Scandinavian shops, to be sure, but don't miss a stop at the Creamery. Buy more than you think you need, 'cause it's great stuff.

Door Artisan Cheese produces 20 plus varieties of cheese. Original recipe cheeses reflecting the Door County heritage as well as Wisconsin cheese favorites. The market also offers a cut to order cheese case with over 50 varieties from across the globe. Cured meats at a charcuterie bar along with other deli items, specialty packaged foods and gifts are also available. Visitors can watch the Cheesemakers stirring the curd and developing the flavors for the day’s production behind a glass window and interact with the cheesemakers to learn about the process. Educating the guests is part of what we do. From there, visitors can descend in an elevator to view the facility's three aging caves, where they will hear about what goes into aging a cheese and how the aging brings out different flavors. Door Artisan Cheese is also home to 5 star restaurant, Glacier Ledge. Taste and savor the flavors of our cheeses in the extraordinary cuisine prepared by Chef Lawrence.
We had spoken with Joan before leaving for Door County and she arranged for a "mini tour" for us since we were just a couple but traveling 300+ miles from the Twin Cities. Upon entering, Dan greeted us by name and explained their business as he gave us samples to savor. Chris then explained the entire process and showed us a short video. We were able to go down to the aging cave and see different varieties and sizes through the windows. Back upstairs Chris looked at our purchases of chees and suggested a few wines that he thought would pair well ( he had worked in a vineyard in California). Back home, we are going through the wedges 1 at a time and will probably order some on line is we run out before a return trip to Door County. Outstanding prize winning cheeses for a very young establishment. Their master cheesemakers are to be congratulated.

Located just north of the Wisconsin-Illinois border, as you approach the exit from Illinois, you will notice the mall. If you're there on a weekend, the parking lot will be crazy. We went during the week and it was nice to shop and take our time without all of the craziness. In each of the store that we went into, we found the staff to be friendly and efficient. If you know what you are looking for, you will find some real bargains here.

We stopped here on our way up to Appleton. We went our different ways and got some good deals. I visited several stores and was happy with what I got from some of them. In some, the browsing was good too. It's a nice outlet location. It wasn't too busy.
