Silvio took good care of us as we went to Tarrafal (with couple stops on the way), and separate trip to Cidade Velha. Our driver Luis was cab driver in Boston and talks good English, and was very attentive to our needs and wishes. We had some as we have a baby. Silvio is a good and active communicator, and very precise. Luis was very timely and professional at all times. He didnt seem in a hurry, and even suggested some extra things to do - stop to see a small monkey was a fun bonus. There may be other operators that are cheaper, but we recevied good value for money with Silvio. Cheaper than renting a car, and individualized service. No need to hesitate choosing Silvio - good and trustworthy service.

What a day well spent! Definitely one of the highlights of my trip in Cape Verde. From start to finish everything was perfectly organized between the two islands. The enthusiasm and friendliness of the guides to make me discover the best part of Santo Antao was amazing. We had such a good time as well as a delicious lunch. The island is stunning and my only regret was not to have spent more time there. Next time ! If you are in Sao Vicente, don’t be put off by the ferry ride (it was ok), you won’t regret it.

I was staying in Achada Lem and hiked in Serra Malagueta on Saturday myself. In the evening I was warn by hotel personnel that it is better not to hike in the Natural park on Sunday, because there were a couple of cases, when local teenagers were attacking the tourists and stealing their phones and money. I was doubtful, if I should get a local guide or go myself but when a girl at the reception said that someone from the Rural tours has "beautiful English", I called them and arranged a tour for the entire day. Edimilson is a really cool person, with whom it is not boring to spend a day. We walked together around 18-19 km. We made first Gongon valley till Hortelão and came back to the road via Principal valley. Edimilson said that I was the first one from outside, with whom he made this long route. On the way we met a few people, with whom Edimilson had a short chat. He is very local and knows how to approach people. After the long walk I wanted to do Lagia trek as well but Edimilson was quite tired and offered to show me a huge tree (Poilón in Boa Entrada), which was also pretty! If you stay in Assomada and like nature, contact Edimilson and you won't regret it. By the way, besides Portuguese and English he also knows French and Spanish :)

We met Nelson after meeting another tourist in Praia, who recommended us to ask Nelson if we ever needed anything during our stay. Nelson drove us from Praia to Tarrafal the next day, while showing us great spots along the way and telling us about local culture. He speaks great English and we felt very safe with him, the car was very clean and all measures were taken in regards to COVID. He was a very friendly and thoughtful person and we will not hesitate to call him next time we are in town!

Im this tour we gonna anderstand the history of cape verd, and see the beatifull constrution build by portuguese im century 14. The island of Santiago was discovered by António da Noli, a Genoese in Portuguese service, in 1460. Da Noli settled at Ribeira Grande with his family members and Portuguese from Algarve and Alentejo in 1462. The settling conditions were good due to the abundance of water from the river Ribeira Grande, which gave it an advantage over the other settlement on Santiago, Alcatrazes. The settlement became a key port of call for Portuguese colonisation towards Africa and South America. In the 16th and 17th centuries, it was a centre of maritime trade between Africa, the Cape, Brazil and the Caribbean. Due to its proximity to the African coast, it was an essential platform for the trade of enslaved persons.
