It was an experience of a lifetime! My cheerful tour guide, Anthony, was on time as we started at 10 PM from Rovaniemi. We drove to a base camp about 55 km from the Rovaniemi city center, and then climbed a hill called Kätkävaara with another assistant Ella. The night was clear and moonless, so conditions for aurora-watching were great. Sure enough, a long pale green arc right across the star-filled sky could be seen, though it remained like this for a very long time without changing. Anthony explained in detail how the aurora is formed, and patiently answered all my questions :) Despite the cold and lack of action, he waited, and finally our patience were rewarded as we were able to see a quite bright display of flickering as 2 separate arcs seemed to form. A moment to remember! We then went inside a small 'cabin' on the hill, and had sausages and hot chocolate sitting around a fire Anthony and Ella lit earlier. Later I learnt I was quite lucky, as the aurora prediction for that night was quite bleak! Aurora viewing needs luck, but that does not change the service provided by Anthony of Lapland Welcome, which was simply fantastic. Such warm behavior made withstanding the cold while waiting for the aurora display not only tolerable, but also enjoyable! The photography was Anthony was also brilliant!! Thank you, Lapland Welcome!

We had the best of times with our tour. Juhani (?spelling) was very professional, friendly, and very proficient in photography. Was very quick with helping and explaining the set up of our different cameras, even though I am a novice. Though we saw very little (but some) lights it was a fun night. Really enjoyed sharing stories with him by the fire while cooking our sausages.

We visited the reindeer farm + reindeer sleigh and husky park + husky sleigh. We appreciate it a lot, especially the story of these animals which has been very well told. The reindeer farm has more than a hundred years of history, we were able to touch and feed the reindeer. The husky park was very large and raised over 90 huskies, we were also able to pet and take pictures with the huskies. Alex was very welcoming and informative. Thanks for this morning.

Get your private transport to Korouoma. We will start a tour from the pick up from your hotel. The way to Korouoma take about one and half hour. The hiking trail offers amazing monthly changing views all year around! The circle route runs clockwise along an old horsetrack, and hikers can get in touch with the history of the area by reading the information boards along the trail. The Koronjää trail leads past stunning viewpoints where three massive frozen waterfalls - Charlie Brown, Mammoth Fall and Brown River - create impressive sceneries. There is also plenty to see in the summertime when the area is filled with lush vegetation, vertical cliffs, boulder soils and the serpentine river that runs the bottom of the canyon. Korouoma is also a perfect hiking destination in the fall, when the stunning fall colors take over the scenery - the view is guaranteed to take your breath away. You will need to dress up in warm clothes, winter shoes and to be prepared for a unique experience.
