Due to lots of request from our guests who already have experienced our DMZ & JSA tour programs, we finally launched a new tour program including a interview with a N.K. defector. We understand there are other tour companies having N.K. defector tours. What is the difference then? Unlike other DMZ bus tours, we offer private tours. You can freely ask any questions to a DMZ specialized tour guide and N.K. defector. And the N.K. defector Jae-Pyoung, Seo, he is the director of the association of the North Korean Defectors in S.K.. You will get information regarding : 1. His life back in N.K. 2. How he escape from North to South. and why? 3. His life in S.K. now 4. Lots more information about other N.K. defectors. 5. Q&A session with him.
Inclusions: Lunch, Air conditioned vehicle, DMZ specialized tour guide.
Exclusions: Personal expenses
The DMZ was shut when we visited ( we think it reopens early in March) so we took a private tour with DMZ Spy tours with Shrek and Major BangSun Im ( who had recently retired from DMZ military guard). We started with a lovely hours walk in the mountains overlooking Seoul, to see battle site from the 1968 North Korea guerrilla attack and attempted assassination of the South Korean president . We then drove to Odusan Unification Tower, opposite North Korea where the Han and Imjin Rivers meet. On the route we drove past increasing security measures. Firstly fences of electrified single barbed wire, then double, then triple , past camouflaged tanks - then Polaris missiles! At the tower we looked through binoculars and could see North Koreans in their villages, tending to livestock, cycling , walking their dogs! After a fantastic lunch of BBQ duck and loads of amazing side dishes, they took us back to Seoul and the War Memorial. There we had a meeting with a North Korean defector- Seo Jae Pyoung. 19 years ago he left his home and got to the Chinese border, where at night he crossed the river to China. He then spent 14 months getting to South Korea. We spent nearly an hour with him and were able to ask him questions. It was a privilege to meet him and very humbling. What a fascinating day, we can highly recommend this tour.

Julian also showed us some palaces, temples and museums in the area. It was a great day and we learned a lot about Seoul. We highly recommend the tour and picking Julian as a tour guide!

About a 1-hour drive from Seoul, we will arrive at Imjingak Park. The Imjingak park, located at 50km northwest of Seoul, was built for 5 million people who had lost their homes. Major facilities include the North Hall where you can get a view of the North Korean lifestyle. Imjingak Park was built in 1972 with the hope that someday unification would be possible. Through this park, vistors can see over 400 photos and documents showing the stark reality of North Korea. The next place is Odusan Unification Observatory, this observatory located in the northernmost ceasefire line of the western front where Hangang river and Imjingang river meet. Before back to hotel, we enjoy the Seoul city view at the landmark of Seoul - N Seoul Tower.
Inclusions: Hotel pickup and drop-off, Transport by private vehicle, English speaking driver/guide, Entrance fees
Exclusions: Observatory and cable car of N Seoul Tower (optional), Food and drinks, Gratuities
Justin was our guide for this tour and he was wonderful! My friends and I have actually lived in Korea for a year and a half and we were not your average group of tour guidees. However, despite this Justin did a fantastic job showing us areas of Seoul that we wouldn't have seen on our own, and was lovely to be around. He made alterations to the schedule to better fit what we were looking for, and was extremely kind and considerate. He did a really good job at making the tour a great experience for us and I really appreciate the kindness he showed us throughout the day. I cannot recommend him enough. We started off by going to Iryeong station and taking lots of pictures there. Other highlights include Yujeong Restaurant and the old Big Hit Entertainment building, where we added a message to the huge amount of fan graffiti on the abandoned building. We then visited k-star road, all the figures for all the different groups were interesting to see. The highlight was being able to see the abandoned swimming pool in the same day, that really was a fantastic way to end the trip: surrounded the cherry blossoms in the Korean spring time while also enjoying taking pictures at the pool was a memory I wont forget. We were also given a folder full of wonderful pictures that were taken throughout the day, and my friends and I had a great time looking through them afterwards. They were high quality and Justin was extremely professional in taking them and also sending them over to us so quickly. I would highly recommend this tour, it is worth the money and I would recommend it for people who are looking to get a bit more of a personal approach to exploring that side of Seoul.

Immerse yourself into the history of the Korean War and Learn about the extraordinary Korean Demilitarized Zone, which serves as a buffer zone between the two Koreas, slashing across the Korean Peninsula. This tour is small-group and no shopping tour. so unlike a group tour of 45 travelers, you can feel intimacy during this tour. and plus this tour does not include shopping stop. so you can fully enjoy a day during this tour. (With the outbreak of African Swine Fever, the Korean government has halted to open DMZ area to stop the spread of infection on pigs. So we revised the itinerary a little bit as below. Hotel - Imjingak Park - Odusan Observatory - War Memorial Museum - Hotel for your reference, the original itinerary was Hotel - Imjingak Park - The 3rd infiltration Tunnel - Dora Observatory - Dorasan Station - Hotel)
Inclusions: Admission Fee - DMZ, Hotel Pick-up and Drop-off
Exclusions: Lunch, Gratuities (optional)
The tour was awesome. Suni was our guide and she was engaging, helpful, and very knowledgeable. It was a small group and I was picked up at my hotel. It was a Sunday and because of the Coronavirus, most of the sites were quite empty. I would highly recommend this tour as we saw a lot in about 7 hours, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Jogyesa Buddhist temple, two different shopping areas, visited the Hanbok studios, where we got dressed up in traditional garb (sounds lame but it was a lot of fun and we got plenty of pictures), historical neighborhood with houses that are protected by UNESCO, and even got to see Seoul from a high mountain peak. We saw a lot but never felt rushed.
