Its area is roughly equivalent with the historical territory of Outer Mongolia, and that term is sometimes used to refer to the current state. It is sandwiched between China to the south and Russia to the north. Mongolia does not share a border with Kazakhstan, although only 37 kilometres (23 mi) separates them.

My wife and I had a fantastic tour of Ulaanbaatar, and the Chinngis Khaan Monument back on 28 November. Our tour guide Bayar was PHENOMENAL! He went above and beyond to explain many different aspects of Mongolia, past and present. He also made sure to accommodate our dietary restrictions for our tour lunch, but ensured we still experienced the National dishes (Tsiuvan, Buuz, khushuur) in a vegan version. We truly enjoyed our time in Ulaanbaatar, and Bayar is definitely the reason why! We plan on returning in the near future! We HIGHLY recommend this tour!

We did a day tour yesterday and it was fantastic! We visited Terelj National Park, turtle rock, a monastery with chanting monks, went to a great lookout over the city, the Ghengus Khan Statue and museum and has a tasty lunch with a nomadic family in their ger, complete with an ox drawn carriage ride across the snow. It was a really cold day and snowing in the morning, but the minivan was warm inside and the driver was very good and safe. Our guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and had perfect english. Everything went to plan and our 12 and 14 year old children really enjoyed the day as much as we did! We would highly recommend this day tour.

My tour guide Yogi was excellent. His English is a step above other tour non-native English speaking guides I've worked with. He was friendly, enthusiastic, and willing to adjust the tour to my personal interests. The itinerary was efficient, we hit on all the major spots I wanted to see. The stop at the monastery was informative for someone who knows very little about Buddhism (and Mongolia's history with it). The black market was really interesting and we spent the perfect amount of time exploring it. Highlight locations were the city lookout point and the museum. (Most skippable was the winter palace. Not entirely uninteresting, but not the most engaging.) The real highlight though was the opportunity to have in depth conversations in English with someone born and raised in Mongolia about every topic from politics to history to what life is like for the average Mongolian. Can't recommend Yogi enough! All around fantastic experience, perfect comprehensive introduction to this fascinating country!

The title says it all. The park consists of a reconstruction of six different aspects of Mongolian society in the thirteenth century e.g. a posthouse and a court as well as a shaman camp. A lot of care has gone into building it though it felt rather run on a shoestring. Pretty expensive at 55,000 TGK to go in plus 15,000 TGK for a very average lunch. It's about 100km outside UB and very spread out; a good driver is a must. The Kempinski arranged an excellent driver for us called Oogi - ask for him if you want to go, he was great.

Everything just worked out on this tour i did in nov 2019. Actually mongolian ways was one of the few actually offering during this offseason time of the year. Both guide and driver have proofen excellent organizational, driving, translating skills and made everytjing possible. One night for example was really cold so they spontanipusly organized a warmer place for the next day. A lot was organized according to the situation which gave maximum flexibility. We visited places which are not usually on the tourists list as for example a coal mine. I was never pressured to hurry up or and still everything worked out because the dtiver was so well connected with the locals. And of course... the sights I saw where amazing.

I had only 4 days in Mongolia and was not really sure on how spending my 4 days besides my business meetings in Ulanbator. I booked the 3 day best of Mongolia tour via NGA tour. They included everything I wanted to see like real nomad family, camel and horse riding etc. Museum tour was also very nice. If you have a limited days like me I would recommend this tour as it shows what Mongolia has to offer.
