My husband and I had originally booked the Vestmann Island tour, but as you might expect when visiting Iceland in the winter, the weather had other ideas. When the ferry got cancelled the owner offered their great circle tour instead - and yet the weather wouldn't even let us do that, blowing vehicles off the road. The owner instead picked us up at our hotel and gave us a six hour private tour of Reykjavik and the surrounding areas. Having driven taxi for 30 years in the capital area, Magnus not only knew where everything was, he knew stories about everything we passed. We saw much of the capital area and all the main sights, and even took a trip out to Bessastaðir, the official residence of the Icelandic President. He also paid our way into two museums. While I was sad the weather conspired to keep us from Westmann, I couldn't have asked for a better tour of the capital area, or a better tour guide.

From Reykjavik, we drive to Raufarhólshellir, one of the most significant lava tunnels in Iceland, where a local guide will tell us all about its spectacular colors and rock formations. After an hour-long tour of the tunnel, we head to the beautiful Reykjanes Peninsula, home of the Reykjanes Geopark, UNESCO site and one of Iceland’s geological gems, a place rich in geothermal energy, seismic activity, and tectonic movements. We will visit the beautiful lakes Kleifarvatn and Grænavatn, the multi-colored hills on Krýsuvík and the geothermal areas of Seltún and Gunnuhver with their hot spring and mud pools and much more. After all the sightseeing, we will make a stop at the Blue Lagoon. Here you will have time to walk around and take pictures or enjoy a coffee in the cafe overlooking the blue pool. If you wish, you can take a relaxing bath in the warm lagoon while enjoying a drink or put some silica mask over your body. (Entrance tickets must be purchased in advance)

Inclusions: Coffee and/or Tea, Air-conditioned vehicle, Private transportation, WiFi on board

Exclusions: Entrance to Blue Lagoon, Entrance to Raufarhólshellir Lava Tunnel, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks

We booked 5 days private tour with Iceland Premium Tours, and we were hosted by none other than the CEO Orvar himself. He has been very accommodating towards our request, and provided his unparalleled understanding of Iceland itself. We have been hit by bad weather thru the week, he never stopped a moment to suggest alternate alternatives, without compromising of safety. When we were on the way to the airport, knowing that we did not managed to see the aurora, he took a last effort and drove us to a location for a last ditch effort. And we managed to catch a glimpse of it finally! Thank you Orvar!

I actually visited back at the end of January 2020 just before the start of the pandemic and with all the drama of Covid, I never actually got round to posting a review. What an incredible tour this was! The waterfalls and landscape were just breathtaking as was the stop off for lunch! Our guide was very helpful and the bus journeys were comfortable. I cannot fault this company, booking was very easy and we were picked up right outside our hotel! I am a massive geography fan so this was a dream come true for me and the black beach is just stunning. The waterfalls are incredible (almost on par with Niagara Falls). I 100% recommend taking this tour to see some of Iceland’s beauty.

David is a genius. This dude knows everything about everything, not just the mountains, rock formations and volcanoes you'll see on the tour, but every single possible thing that you can think of. Honestly, the tour was spectacular. We had so much fun. By the end of the tour, David was more a friend than a driver. His driving is great, communication skills on point, knowledge extensive and humor dark :) The tour started at 8:30, he was there at 8:30. Overall, it was an amazing experience.

My wife and I were supposed to go on tour with this group on Thursday, 13/05/2021 and we recieved an email the day before stateing the tour was canceled due to covid restrictions. This is odd as there were still tour groups doing tours, and had this been the real issue they should have told us sooner than a day prior. This short notice cost us a large amount of money in setting up a tour with a different group.
