We booked with Absolute Panda for two and half days of panda time around Chengdu. Our guide, Philip helped us build the perfect experience. We volunteered for two days at Dujiangyan and spent the following morning at Chengdu Research Base. Philip knows the staff at the Dujiangyan panda base. He makes sure you will be given lots of panda time. Feeding panda bears was amazing - their soulful eyes express a thousand words. In the evenings, Philip arranged for us to try the ultimate Sichuan dining experiences as well as a Sichuan opera. Sharing a home-cooked meal that we learned to cook from Philip’s Mom was an extra special treat for us. Philip taught us to play Mahjong and shared his wealth of knowledge on Chinese culture and history. And it didn’t stop in Chengdu, Philip set us up with tours and travel arrangements in Xian, Beijing, and Zhangjiajie Forest! Worley was a great guide who took us to at least four major tourist attractions in Chengdu in four hours from pickup to our hotel at the W and back. She is very knowledgeable including history of religions, architecture, and is a big panda fan. The tour was not the typical bike ride we are used to where we stayed on bikes the majority of the time. We took the metro and walked around the places we visited on this tour and probably traveled on bike for about 10 km. It was a wonderful introduction of the city that allowed us to see Wenshu Monastery, Kuanzhai Alley, People’s Park, and Qingyang Palace. We were pressed on time otherwise Worley would’ve spent more time in the locations. Thank you, Worley, for the great tour!

We had a half-day Panda visit followed by a half-day sight seeing with our guide Aline. Our guide was excellent. Aline spoke excellent English, was knowledgeable and tailored the trip for our needs and interest. Our driver was also excellent, polite and experienced. Car was practically new and comfortable. This made the short time we had very enjoyable and worthwhile.

Everything started good, our guide Vivian was kind and very helpful. But after the visit to the Panda Breeding Center she told us that the agency couldn’t buy our tickets for the Buddha because we didn’t t have a Chinese ID and in the ticket office they were already sold out. So we didn’t see the Leshan Buddha and they only refund the amount of the ticket for the Buddha (70RMB) and got a visit to Jinlin street. I think the agency should know and be prepared for these kind of things. We only had one complete day in Chengdu and we couldn’t see the Buddha, which was one of our priorities in the trip. We are very disappointed.

We did this last year..and it was just wonderful! We were set to work clearing out our panda' s enclosure..and later in the day fed him. Amazing. Your guide takes all the photos at this time as you are not allowed to. His poo had to be collected by us and put in a special basket to be weighed..part of his health check. We had lots of time in the afternoon to walk around the centre and take lots of photos and see the antics of baby pandas in their "nursery" enclosure where they have an "adventure park " and play equipment ..like children. Do do this if you can ! Incredible creatures. They just don't look real!

I never actually got to take this holiday because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. However, I would like to say that once the tour was cancelled and I asked for a refund of my deposit the matter was handled quickly and efficiently by Lorraine Bowman, the Customer Care Manager, who oversaw the return of the deposit to my bank account in less than a week. This will certainly encourage me to use them again for any future trips.
