Wonderful tour by a knowledgeable guide before the castle tour! He had obviously done his research and was able to add more, and more historically accurate, details. Lots of "fun" facts, too (I had no idea what BMW stood for or why the logo looks looks like it does. I do now!). He knows all the best spots for pictures and the best times to get them in before the next tour groups arrive. Skipping the line for the castle tour tickets was a real plus. Highly recommend!

On March 22, 1933, a few weeks after Adolf Hitler had been appointed Reich Chancellor, a concentration camp for political prisoners was set up in Dachau. This camp served as a model for all later concentration camps and as a "school of violence" for the SS men under whose command it stood. In the twelve years of its existence over 200. 000 persons from all over Europe were imprisoned here and in the numerous subsidary camps. 41. 500 were murdered. On April 29 1945, American troops liberated the survivors.

Beer & Old Town tour - for people who want to know the most interesting info about Heidelberg's long history & sample some genuine local beer & pubs too. We will visit 1 of Heidelberg's microbreweries, a classic old student bar & a cool local bar while also enjoying some sites & stories about the Old Town. (Ps: tour itinerary can change from published one depending on occupancy of the various bars, no. of participants, etc.)
Inclusions: The first beer of the tour is on me.
