Travelling as a single female for the first time I was quite nervous as to what to expect. I had checked out this hotel online and it seemed to have pretty good reviews, but I was booking last minute during a busy time of year (dia de los muertos) and on a budget since I am a grad student travelling for research, so it was not like I had too much choice. I will tell you I was more than pleasantly surprised! This place could not have been better for the circumstances. It was relatively inexpensive, I paid $50 a night, the room was recently renovated, bright and clean and the owners were just really wonderful. I was in the green villa (they are organized by colours not numbers). I had a huge king sized bed that faced my own little private garden through huge sliding glass doors. There was a TV, bed, 2 chairs and desk in the room and a little table with an umbrella outside. The bathroom had a place to hang your clothes, a towel rack, huge counter and sink, toilet, and a shower that was open to the bathroom, so it was a wet bathroom but I found the water did not really get anywhere. My room was attached to only one other so it was pretty quiet and private. I do not speak spanish so every morning the wife, Maria, would call a taxi for me to go into town. Her english is not perfect but more than enough for us to communicate, and when needed we got by with google translate. Antonio, her husband, speaks really good english and even gave me a ride twice when I had to be in town at a certain time for a tour and the taxi was going to take too long. They were very accommodating, letting me come back late after a cemetery tour, taking me to the airport (for payment), and telling me about local things I should experience, from food to sights! I honestly would have had a much different, and probably poorer, experience if I had not stayed there and had their hospitality and local knowledge to guide me. The only reason I do not give this 5 stars is because it was a little far from town, I usually had to wait 20 minutes for a taxi to come and it could take anywhere from 20-40 minutes to get there depending on traffic. (It was no big deal to me but plan accordingly) When coming back at night, it would be dark and the hotel was a little hard to find, they could benefit from a larger lit sign (the current one is just on the gate so hard to spot from a distance from a moving taxi). My taxis coming home also got lost so make sure you have screen shots of a map on you and haggle with them up front, it should only cost about 100 pesos. Also, I was in one of the further away villas so I found the wi-fi a little spotty. Usually on vacation I like not having Wi-fi but because I was travelling for school it was a little inconvenient to have to go outside or into the bathroom (where it was stronger) to get wi-fi to check email and hand in assignments. Another small thing was the fan in the room only stayed on if one of the lights was on as well, I turned the fans light off but it was still connected to another light that couldn't be shut off. Luckily it wasn't too hot while I was there so I didn't have to choose between coolness and sleeping with the light on but it was a bit strange. I also had to keep the bathroom door shut at night due to an outside light that was on, but the birds would have been loud through the window in there anyways. Overall this was a super lovely, clean, and accommodating place to stay! It is clear that the couple who run it really care about their business and know from experience what a traveler wants to experience when away from home. They live there and have a growing family so it is very obvious that they are invested in the property and its guests. I know they were working to make it even better and were working on renovations while I was there so I think it will only get better. I cannot express how grateful I am for all their help. If you're looking for a quiet and relaxing place to stay with all your basic amenities covered for a good price and don't mind be a little bit away from downtown this place is perfect!

Casa Tierra Viva is located 2 minutes from El Rinconcito beach, has bungalows for 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 people, with kitchenette, and also rooms for two with terrace, refrigerator, water gallon and coffee maker . Each bungalow has ceiling fans, refrigerator, stove, coffee maker, blender, microwave, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils, mosquito nets on doors and windows, bathroom with shower and hot water. As a plus they are given sugar, salt, oil and coffee during the stay of the guests. Free parking and WIFI are also available. It is in a strategic location, surrounded by restaurants, grocery stores, bakery and bars. Punta Cometa and the beaches of San Agustinillo and Zipolite are 15 minutes away. Also the Mexican Turtle Center and eco-tourist rides that are offered in the zone
Great Accommodation We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Tierra Viva. Patti and her husband were great hosts who were very welcoming and intent on making our stay comfortable. The room was very clean and comfortable with 2 great beds and pillows. The air conditioning was a great asset. We were pleased to have access to a full sized firdge and a fully equipped kitchen and fresh coffee each morning. This little gem is only 100 metres from the beach and a short walk to restaurants, and stores for groceries etc and very close to a great bakery! We would definitely stay there again. Mazunte is a great place to chill and have a relaxing beach holiday with a great variety of restaurants and good food! We would choose one of the 5 or 6 different beach restaurants each day, and order drinks and breakfast or lunch right on the beach. No need to rents chairs or umbrellas. Now that is what I call a holiday. The boat tour to see whales and dolphins and turtles was definitely worthwhile but be sure to apply lots of sunscreen.

Beach front hostal, newly renovated and surrounded by the nature. All you need is around: shops, restaurant, bars, night club, beaches... You can also enjoy our beach club!
Spent 3 nights at Nomad as a couple and it was overall a pleasant stay. It's nice and quiet and the room was clean. The room could be improved with a few more hooks and shelves, other than that we were very happy. The barman and lady with the short hair, and the French lady were very helpful and went out their way to make sure we had what we needed and could get around. Thank you! One tip - do the dolphin tours Robert (Robert's ecotours on TripAdvisor) - was a real highlight as we got to snorkel with 100s of dolphins. Memories we will have forever.

This really is a lovely place with very friendly people. However, it really wasn't right for us and overall we didn't have the best time here. The lodge is run by a family, but only one of them can speak English. Justita was really helpful and friendly and actually really helped us out one day when we ran out of cash, which was much appreciated. No cash machines nearby (it is the jungle after all!), so make sure you stock up for any tours you want to do before you set off to Lacanja. The room was nice enough, rustic just as described on their website - it's pretty much what I expected. The shower was hot and there are hammocks behind the huts to laze about in, very nice. The language barrier I think was the biggest factor affecting our enjoyment of the place - we couldn't really speak to any of the family and to be honest they didn't make much of an effort to help us understand them. If you can speak Spanish you may well have a much better experience than us. The food was really same-y and uninspiring, which was a bit of shame. The tours (we did them all) were nice and - if you're into that sort of thing - I really recommend the rafting!

Horrible hospedaje y hospitalidad 838331023 Tomamos 4 habitaciones.
