Enjoy cooking of Japanese dishes at the traditional Japanese house(more than 100 years old). We use organic vegetables in my garden. We cook dishes with non -chemical seasoning. You can also enjoy the Japanese architecture and the Japanese garden.
What a fantastic time we had at Kura Cooking for my boyfriend's birthday! We opted to cook a traditional japanese meal set, having lived in Japan so long it was great to see how we could make simple delicious dishes at home. It was very simple to get there especially as Yuko-san was able to collect us straight from the train station. Yuko-san is a fantastic English speaker and it was wonderful chatting together about life in Japan and England too. She is such a warm and friendly person it immediately puts you at ease. Her classes are set within her traditional japanese family home. It was wonderful to see her beautiful home and garden. It was great to sample and taste homemade miso and delicious homemade yuzu candies with tea. If you are ever in Aichi-ken and you want to learn to cook something new I can't recommend this class highly enough. Please go and experience it for yourself!

My name is Yoko, the lecturer of HIDA COKING CLASS. I have been living in Hida & Takayama area for most of my life, making local food for my family. As I like cooking and am passionate about speaking in English and socializing with people from abroad, I have started this class. My concept is "Learn local food from local at local's house." Hope we will enjoy the class together!!
I've taken cooking classes before but thought this was one of the best I've experienced. It was fun, action-packed, fast and, finally, delicious when we sat down to eat it. The whole group seemed to really enjoy it. Our instructor and helpers were delightful and fun themselves. Highly recommended.

Traditional Japanese Cooking Experience & Morning Market Tour
My husband and I spent the afternoon with Akane and Midori. Akane took us to a local sake brewery where we were fortunate to be able to take a tour. Akane told us a lot about the town and its history before we returned to the kitchen to prepare a delicious meal, including miso soup, gyoza, sweet potato and sushi rolls. We ate in a lovely dining room at the rear of the kitchen. We would highly recommend this cooking class to anyone visiting Takayama.
