The town that gave the country (and port wine) its very name, Porto is Portugal’s second-largest metropolis after Lisbon. Sometimes called Oporto, it's an age-old city that has one foot firmly in the industrial present. The old town, centered at Ribeira, was built on the hills overlooking the Douro River, and today is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 14th-century São Francisco church is a main attraction, as are the local port wine cellars, mostly located across the river at Vila Nova de Gaia.

Cook In Ribeira is the gastronomic proposal for those who want to know more about Portuguese cuisine. Space and concept allow activities that have gastronomy and wine as central raw materials. The practical classes are led by a 'Chef instructor' who teaches you how to prepare a particular menu with its own tips. At the end, the prepared menus are sampled by the participants.
An amazing, authentic cultural and cooking experience. The day started with Vitor driving us to a local market while giving us some history of the area and suggestions for places to visit and eat along the way. We learned how to pick out fish and seafood and selected some amazing ingredients for our cooking experience. We went back to the Cook in Ribeira kitchen where we enjoyed some wine and worked with Vitor to cook up an amazing meal from appetizer through to dessert. Vitor shared so much information about Portugal and Portuguese cooking and was so easy to talk to and learn from. We will definitely take another cooking class with Vitor the next time we are in Porto and highly recommend the experience!

I'm Joana, born and raised in Porto, a lover of all things cooking and baking related, travel enthusiast and a Tourism Management graduate. I love my city! Office working style it's not my thing - hosting, teaching, learning, meeting new people everyday, telling stories and hearing fabulous adventures from fellow travelers are my passions. My grandmothers were AMAZING in the kitchen and being able to grow up with these unique family owned recipes have been so special - let me share all of this!

Enjoy a hands-on Portuguese cooking experience with top Chefs or taste the main Portuguese wines in a cozy and cool environment in downtown Porto. The cooking classes and wine tasting take place in a typical 19th century iron warehouse, recently renovated and transformed to concept store with a kitchen. It is located in the center of Porto night life and trendy shopping areas.
